Iowa's governor doesn't support an amendment to ban gay marriage, says the state Supreme Court has called it "unlawful and discriminatory".

Too bad the reps in even the most liberal parts of Iowa don't agree with gay marriage. I should know, I grew up there.

I'd say there's better than 60% chance that they amend the constitution. Even if the state has more independents than dems, and more dems than republicans. It is also a state that prospered under ~16 years of republican governorship, and suffered once Vilsak came into office. (See budget surplus to deficit conversion within 2 years...)

As happy as I am to see it legal in Iowa (again), I have little faith that it will stay legal.
