Part ten In which Decus has an identity crisis, Regal's back in handcuffs, the location of the detonator is extremely obvious and Presea nearly chops Marta in half.
Part Eleven
After another minor dungeon, the gang runs into Rilena in the Temple of Earth. So she was transported here after all...
She also thinks that Decus looks and sounds just like Aster.
The gang asks her if there's any defining features to Aster and she talks about a star-shaped scar on his neck. Decus apparently has such a thing just above his collarbone. ... He must check himself out in the mirror a lot to notice such a thing. Couple that with the 'memories' of Richter trying to kill him, and... Well. He really must be Aster.
Whoop, nothing like an emotional crisis to gain a new title!
Brief interlude for shenanigans...
And then they make a detour through Toize Valley Mine to get out of the temple and back to the surface.
Now, because it seems like the Vanguard are secretly using the mine to excavate Exspheres, even though Regal tried to close the place down, we'll need to go to Altamira and report this to George.
Regal once again flaunts his wealth, here...
And when we enter the President's office, he's suddenly wearing his suit again. I have no clue when he changed into that. Anyway, apparently the Vanguard are attacking the city. They demand that Alice is handed over. Otherwise, all of Altamira will be blown to bits!
Even the themepark? Yes, even the themepark.
In the inn, we run into Marta once more! ... *sigh*
She says that bombs have been planted all over the city and the gang has until midnight to hand Alice over. Everyone refuses to do so. Either way, she'll be waiting at the casino!
As Regal and Sheena discuss strategies, Alice runs past them to hand herself over anyway.
Decus is so upset and worried, he's standing on his royal suite bed.
And so, Regal gets fancy new handcuffs! These... apparently control the power-grid in the casino. ... Regal has handcuffs that control the power-grid in the casino. He actually had these things developed.
The plan is to bring Regal to the Vanguard as a hostage/present, so they'll gain access to the casino.
But Marta is waiting for them there, and she isn't as stupid as they'd like to believe.
Doesn't matter, though. We're inside the casino now. EPIC RESCUE GOOOO!
I choose you, Tenebrae!
... That's the detonator? Seriously? That huge glowing thing? Instead of a small discreet object, they made an incredibly large and obvious one? And here I thought the power-grid handcuffs were a bad idea.
Yup, we're done here. We're totally done here. The day is totally saved now that the detonator's gone. Nevermind that they could easily hook up a second detonator. Nevermind that there's still a whole army of Vanguard soldiers swarming Altamira. Nope, we totally saved the day.
Oh crap it's Commander Brute! Marta's dad.
And he's ready to kill us all. Because he is British and a descendant of the ~Sylvarant Dynasty~.
So as Hawk attempts to slash Decus to ribbons, Brute runs towards him with a knife to stab him. Double death!
But Decus twists his sword to use Hawk's body as a shield. Hawk is impaled on the knife instead.
Run awaaaayyy!
They hop into the monorail train and take off. ... Hold on, aren't we forgetting something? Something rich and blue-haired, with a fetish for handcuffs and a fancy manner of speech? ... Naaah it's probably nothing.
Just as they attempt to leave the city, they run into Martmart yet again! Geez, that girl is everywhere.
But Presea appears out of nowhere to slash at her with her axe. ... Looking at this game logically, Marta should not survive a slash to the spine with an axe, but I doubt we're that lucky.
The gang regroups outside the city to discuss what just happened. ... Yeaaahhh, about Regal... Uhm...
Oh, we're on Chapter Seven already! Niiice.
So Sheena leaves Alice and Decus in Presea's care, while she runs off to get more information on Regal's whereabouts and the status of Altamira. Presea suggests we go take shelter in Ozette, but there's a Vanguard checkpoint up ahead.
... Hold on. What gives the Vanguard- the Sylvaranti Liberation Front- the right to set up a check-point on Tethe'allan ground? Where the hell are those Papal Knights when you need 'm?
Anyway, Presea brings out an Iron Maiden and explains that it's a 'talisman' of sorts. You know, I'll bet Decus would want one of these.
Alice is forced to hide inside the Iron Maiden as they make their way through the checkpoint.
As the Vanguard soldier demands that they let him see what's inside the Iron Maiden, Presea tells him about a horrible curse that will befall anyone who opens the Iron Maiden before its days are up. The soldier chickens out and tells them to just keep going.
Instead of going to Ozette, like was planned, Presea takes them to Altessa's house. Somehow, when they need a place to stay, it's always Altessa's house. I wonder if he minds that we're always invading his home like this.
Mere seconds after Altessa gives them permission to stay, Magnar's voice can be heard from outside. Turns out, he's a member of the Vanguard as well. He was only pretending to be with the Church of Martel.
... I am... I'm sorry, but this is still such a ridiculous plan. You can't just act like you're a member of some huge organization and then commit such brutal crimes in their name. Regardless of whether Magnar is a double-agent in the Church or he never really joined them at all, someone is bound to speak up about this and then the Church of Martel will say: "Magnar? Who's that? We never gave anyone permission to pillage Luin."
Anyway, they go outside to kick Magnar's ass. Afterwards, there is more yapping about the Sylvarant Dynasty and the Vanguard's plans.
What? "Win"? Are we at war with Tethe'alla, now? Why did no one inform me?
So they continue onward to Mizuho, in hopes of speaking with the chief.
LOOK IT'S OROCHI! A cameo from one of Sheena's bros! I'm still miffed Kuchinawa isn't in this game, though. ... Or maybe he is, and we just don't see him because he's so good at being a ninja.
Yes, that is exactly what we just finished telling you. Peculiar wording, here. "A mana cannon". Are you implying there are more of them?
Brief interlude where Alice is pissy about the Vanguard's actions.
After fighting some Vanguard soldiers, Alice decides that they should go face Brute again. As long as Brute has Solum's core, they can't awaken Ratatosk anyway. This confrontation needs to happen and Alice wants to be there. ... Oh yeah, and Raine and Genis are back.
Will they save Regal in time? Will they succeed in getting Solum's core from Brute? Will we finally have all the party members together for once?
Stay tuned!
