Let's Play DotNW - Part 17

Part sixteen

In which I post my leftover, random screencaps. Includes random gameplay, alternate Flanoir scenes and sprite fails.

Part seventeen

First, here's some screencaps from my first sprite-swap. This was just a test to see if I could get the code to work. I turned Marta into Colette for the prologue.

Alice encounters the Wonder Chef.

Trying to swap the battle sprites, while awesome, often resulted in a crash in the victory screen. In fact, if I had Decus in my party the battle screen wouldn't load at all. For Alice it would load roughly 75% of the time. By the way, doing a Mystic Arte didn't really work. It'd cause a bit of damage to nearby enemies, but there wasn't an actual animation or cut-in.

Also, I renamed Marta to Alice and Emil to Decus, but this only worked for menus and title notifications. In cutscenes and textbubbles, they'd still be named Emil and Marta.

Turning a random monster into Alice's squirrel monster. ♥

Yuan Irving. Not photoshopped! Renaming Lloyd to something else (in this case "Yuan") resulted in this.

What I did here was swap Lloyd's equipment a bit. I changed his first accessory into a Rheaird and the dual swords into something called "Bastard Sword", which I thought was fitting for Yuan. It's actually one of Emil's swords. (and yeah, the picture of Yuan was photoshopped)

Time for alternate Flanoir scenes! Yuan/Sheena, Yuan/Yuan, Yuan/Zelos, Yuan broing with Genis... And of course the most canon pairing of all... Lloyd/Lilia.

lol, Yuan/Yuan. This one happened by accident, because I forgot to turn off the "Lloyd is visited by Yuan" cheat.

lol. So canon.

To get the scene where Marta dies protecting Emil, I had to watch this first scene twice. Once with Marta as Alice for the pre-battle screenshots, and once like this for the post-battle screenshots:

Whoops, forgot to turn Alice into Marta.

Alice's blinking wasn't always synchronized, which made it seem like she's winking. Or... like she's in pain.

Decus has the biggest amount of expression fail in the entire playthrough.

This happened quite often. Whenever Emil/Decus would have one of those 'badump' heartbeat moments.

... yes. That is his Ratatosk Mode face. This is why I never really showed Decus' face whenever he was in Ratatosk Mode.

I don't understand what happened here. It was just for this cutscene, but it was terrifying. The mouth was perfectly synced but, for some reason, stuck to the right side of his face.

Hahah. Wonderful face.
