I love the smell of pine.  And wood smoke.  And little lights all over the place.  So, biking through Beacon Hill makes me happy because it's got all these things.  It just feels so old towny and traditional, the way a holiday should be.  The way the holidays are in the Macys animated windows.  I look forward to living vicariously through other ( Read more... )

I love love love love love my mixer. I have been known to randomly hug my mixer. Best graduation present ever.

And the accessories are expensive, but the pasta rollers/cutters are SOOOOOO worth it. I use them all the time, and once you start making your own healthy, fresh pasta, you'll never go back. It's very quick (when the mixer does all the dirty work), and very delicious.
You may want to consider getting a second bowl, too. Not necessary, but it makes things go much faster, especially if you have a recipe that requires it, or are making several things at once.

Happy mixing!

Aww glad to see you treated yourself hon (and those things are awesome, I have same kind...). My present this year was a cusineart food processer ^^;;;;

Yeah...I noticed too as we grow older we start doing more for our parents and not expect as much in return?

Next on my list is a mandoline for slicing. (I think you can use it to make a bed of veggie strings to put sushi on.) That is harder because there isn't one fantastic model that everyone loves... and they're pretty pricey.

Food processor is on the "maybe" list... I have two smaller ones for chopping nuts or mincing garlic, but I don't really use finely cut stuff very often, and usually the microplane or garlic press or a knife and a minute can get things the way I want them.

*nods* seems to be the case for most kitchen gadgets...price. I know i'd own a lot more if not for that (and school loans..)

I will say I love my cusine art for making batches of pesto, pizza doughs, and lately for dog cookies!

I agree on the pesto... that's why I'd get a big food processor. I have a farm share that includes lots of basil at certain times, and I would like to make a very large batch of pesto, but last time I tried it the little processors weren't enough. Mmm. Pesto.

Although pasta and pizza and bread are Not Very Often foods for me, pesto really isn't that useful to me, but I love it.
