Ow.

So normal people work eight hours a day, right? Five days a week? ... I respect people who can do that, because I don't think it's in me. At least, not for this job. I've had two seven and a half hour and one eight and a half hour shift...and am getting ready to embark on my second eight and a half hour shift. Even in flat shoes, this is killing my ( Read more... )

I had this guy who came in yesterday with his friend. He leaned over the counter, and I was pretty sure he was going to say something sketchy, but instead I get, "About a month ago, you had a pair of pants on that rack...." No idea what color, fabric, or what they loked like. We've changed the store around completely twice in the last month. So I just showed him every pair of pants we had. Not a sucky customer, just highly amusing. I haven't had too many bad customers, just the guy who didn't know how to spell his daughter in law's name and kept saying "Scarlett like Scarlett O'Hara!" Good luck...do you have to work tomorrow? Luckily I'm off, but I didn't get out of the 26th.

No, I had to work today. And I have to work christmas eve, AND the 26th. Blegh. That's funny though. I like the customers who are like: "I saw this book in here once...I can't remember the author or the title, but it had penguins on it and it was over on that table in the middle..."

Ah, I know your pain with multiple 8 1/2 hour shifts. I work at a grocery store and there is always that one person who is so impatiend that they set their stuff on the scanner while I am still ringing up the person in front of them. Then they get all offended when I have to void their crap out of the order that is not even their's and get a manager to override it. These are also usually the people who hand me their stuff while I'm trying to scan something else. It's just kind of like, "Lady, I am trying to weigh your bananas, unless you want them to be $15 please take your CAN OF SOUP off the scanner."

Fun times.

Yeah, that sucks. I wouldn't want to work at a grocery store, that's for sure. It's always fun when you have to call a manager and the customers get all pissy that you can't do it yourself. I had a man once yell at me because he had a return and I couldn't do it. He was like "Well, why don't YOU do it?" and I said, "I can't, only managers can do returns" and he said "Why? Are the rest of you stupid?" Yeah. He got kicked out.

Most wonderful time of the year indeed. And yeah, long shifts are a real bugger. Nothing better than starting a 6-8 hour shift at 6am though. And I loved those "special" customers just as much as you obviously do. Nothing was more fun than having a ten-minute argument with a women who insisted we should offer free coffee. Not because anything was wrong with her coffee or because she had a discount or any such, but just because some other restaurant (she didn't name which one) she'd been to sometime in the past supposedly offered free coffee. Oh the humanity. People at a bookstore can be a pain in the ass, but nothing is more fun than the food service industry. I swear people will send back toast because its cut in half vertically rather than diagonally ( ... )

Yay, Helm's Deep. XD By the way, I'm having to cancel the New Years party because no one can come, but I need to give you your christmas present. Any chance of you meeting me somewhere in raleigh when I'm passing through on christmas evening?

I'll give you a call tomorrow (or later today, whatever), and we'll see if we can't work something out. Sound good?

that sucks, I feel your pain, last summer I worked three or four nine hour shifts a week. Bitchy people suck, like the lady today at EB who couldn't you know LOOK AT OUR WALLS HERSELF for shit. No, she insisted that I find every single thing for her. And she hadn't even looked, and continued to refuse to look for her games herself. I know I'm there to help but she could at LEAST try.

I would type more but the internet hates me and keeps freezing.

Hahahaha. Yeah. Customers are funny. I like the ones who bypass the BIG DAMN bestsellers display that's RIGHT as you walk in the door and go directly to customer service to ask for a book that's got everything but neon lights. XD

i'm sorry, this is really random and i feel like an idiot for asking, but i was wondering. you did post a new chapter of Yugureden [chapter 4 i think] recently, right? because i could have sworn i remember reading it...cuz i remember getting mad at Taiyo and Hikaru for interrupting the very *spazz*-inducing Yamabu moments. however, i can't find it! D: i thought you'd posted it at jent_fanfics" but the only thing i could find was chapter three. and i tried looking around in some of the other comms i'm in but i still couldn't find it. please help? once again, i'm sorry this is so random~
