Update at 6pm
I took a break from 2-4 to watch Wallander, because my ancient VCR can't pick up Showcase. But it doesn't feel like too much of an abandonment, since it is based on a book. I'm alternating between two books now: Timothy Findley's You Went Away and The Daily Show and Philosophy.

Mid-Event Meme:
1. What are you reading right now?
See above!
2. How many books have you read so far?
Finished four, reading two currently.
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
Long Day's Journey Into Night - I have a couple of collections of O'Neill's plays, but I only just found a copy of Long Day's Journey Into Night, and this seems like a perfect time to finally read it.
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?
Not really - fortunately I didn't have a hockey game, as it's the Thanksgiving Long Weekend, and we're doing the dinner thing tomorrow. I did bail on a move at the Film Festival, but I may be able to see it on Monday.
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
Only a couple of phone calls - I ignored one and kept reading through the one I answered (my mother is used to me being terribly rude that way).
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
How very little it differs from the way I'd love to spend a lazy Saturday :)
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
I'd like to be more organized and raise money for a charity - suggestions on how the best way to go about it would be great.
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?
I would raise money for literacy. And get to bed even earlier the night before...
9. Are you getting tired yet?
I've taken a couple of micro-naps, so I'm not doing too badly. I expect hours 21-24 will be the hardest to get through.
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?
My only advice would be just to enjoy the luxury of reading uninterrupted (as much as possible).
Update 9:00pm
Finished You Went Away and Long Day's Journey Into Night. I'm not too tired yet, but I think I'll take a walk in a couple of hours to refresh myself - and stock up on caffeine shots...
