I think you mean Elizabeth Goudge. If you can find it, the one you should be reading is The Valley of Song (1951). It was one of my early imprints.

Urk. You *are* correct. Hate it when similarly named authors moosh their names together in my brainpan. I will definitely keep an eye peeled for The Valley of Song! (Sadly, it looks to be out-of-print and 100 dollars, but perhaps a library will have.)

I have never seen a copy for sale for less than astronomical prices, but I have had great success with interlibrary loan.
