LOL! I'm glad you made me watch the movie too! Although it's worth mentioning that I was only forced the first time. I can't even say how many times I've watched it since... strictly for writing research, of course. ;) In fact, the other day I took DWP out of the DVD player only long enough to watch The Bridges of Madison County, and then put it right back in.

Yup, you got it! Miranda was the 'devil' all along. The way I see it, the younger version of her, whose pride and ambition made her so hell-bent (pardon the pun) on succeeding at all costs, was kind of evil. Present-day Miranda has grown wiser and at least a little kinder, and deserves a bit of redemption, methinks. :)
