A friend of mine from manila just wrote a post about musical ageism in the Philippines that got me thinking... I'm a little too scattered to turn this into anything more coherent than a loose rant, but don't think that the bias is just an age thing... I think it's a byproduct of music and rebellion being turned into a commodity

Also, I don't buy the losses-due-to-piracy. Losses due to being dinosaur-like and destroying napster, audiogalaxy and the like, sure.

at first i was afraid i was "getting old" because i didn't like the "new stuff". but then i thought, no. no, that's not it. fer chrissakes. it really does suck. it's hollow. it's formulaic. it's lame. and it's boring as hell.
there's nothing out there anymore. and you've put it in a new perspective that never occurred to me. so thanks, but it doesn't really help, because music still sucks. ;)
however, if you need a new holiday song, dig this: F$@# Christmastime. ;)
