So I've heard a lot of hype surrounding CFLs, but since I have smart friends I've also heard the bad news. Yup, they will last longer and use less power. So because being responsible requires more responsibility than simply buying the moral option, you give up? This doesn't sound like you or frankly anyone who really feels reducing their carbon footprint is the right thing to do. Hit up http://earth911.org/ to find the Kent County Household Waste Recycling center near you. If I could I'd bop you on the head like in the V8 commercials.

I apologize. I think I did a poor job of explaining myself. The CFLs and standard bulb in full life-cycle have nearly the same carbon foot print due to all the extra production effort, disposal, and other smaller items. Both of their dust-to-dust life has nearly the same impact on the plant.

To be really good to the earth we should be buying, using, and contributing to the manufacturing of LED bulbs. This is where I would rather spend my money to help the earth and make a truly significant impact.
