I couldn't tell you if it was an urban myth or not, indeed Jack was no figment of my ( Read more... )

If you're interested in old "Scary" children's stories, it might make a nice series for you? http://www.fln.vcu.edu/struwwel/struwwel.html

I have never heard of that tale before...but I like it. This piece just blows me away!! Absolutely fucking amazing job, Dave!! Best thing you have ever done...I know I say that every time, but that's just cos you keep getting better and better. There is SO gonna be a book(s) of your art in the future...

I knew you'd love this piece more than anyone Adam, the character definately speaks to the misanthrope in us both:) I'm always critical of something when I've finished, I find it difficult to distance myself because I always think there are things I could have done to make it better, but I'm fairly pleased with the result of this one.

Oh, it definitely speaks to me...it says "Buy Me!". I know what you mean about looking at it objectively, and thinking how it could have been better, I do the same. But then, that's what makes us strive to improve, and make each piece better than the last. They say that once you no longer have that...once you are completely satisfied with your finished pieces...it's all over. I'm just astounded how you manage to KEEP improving and making each new piece even more breathtaking than the last. As far as being "fairly pleased"? I'd be jumping hoops and doing backflips if I had painted this piece...
Btw...the aforementioned book? I am SO getting one =:=}

I think its an English folklore tale, so I'm glad I can bring it to a new audience.
