Cloud's day is going downhill fast...
Amalgamation
Cloud rolled his eyes in exasperation. What had started out as a pleasant day had rapidly descended into mayhem and violence - and that had just been Sephiroth stealing his tea.
As soon as he had left the building - without the fire mage, who had been in a decidedly grumpy mood that probably had a lot to do with Cloud denying him sex until he replaced the tea that had ended up scattered all over the kitchen during their first round of the morning - he had been shot. Cloud had become accustomed to dying over the years, but merely getting wounded still pissed him off at times, because it often took forever to heal by comparison.
His day had headed further downhill when in attempting to get away from the gunfire he had ended up running straight into a demon's arms. That in itself wasn't too bad. The demon was rather pretty for one, particularly with his crimson eyes and long black hair. Two: he also had a fantastically sculpted body, which Cloud was rapidly becoming quite intimately acquainted with, as he was held flush against it. Three: the demon could fly.
Cloud had to confess to a slight weakness for heights: he absolutely loved them. In his far-distant youth the peaks of the Nibelheim mountains had been forever calling him upwards into the sky. Here in the city it was no different, where he had staked his claim on the penthouse of one of the tallest buildings in Midgar. Yet he still envied those like this demon who had the wings to rise even further toward the starry heavens.
When the demon began to rise fast and fearless, Cloud knew what was coming. He could probably have escaped the demon's clutches at a safe height if he'd put some effort into it, but it wasn't every day that someone fulfilled one of his fantasies all unknowing, so... Letting his head fall back, the wind whipping his hair against his face, he quite happily went along for the ride. He was still grinning when the demon dropped him from what must have been twenty storeys up.
He sighed a little as gravity drew him back down to earth, knowing that this was going to be rather messy - but it had definitely been worth it.
When he opened his eyes on his new life, he had the strange sensation that something had gone wrong. When blinking didn't change the double vision he had, he frowned at the pair of crimson-eyed demons who were bending over him inquisitively. They frowned back at him in obvious puzzlement.
"You were dead," one spoke in tones of mild astonishment.
"Why don't you stay dead?" asked the other, his fingers probing delicately through the new bullet hole in his shirt to the newly healed skin beneath. There were some benefits to dying, after all. Waking up to a gorgeous set of twin demons was just a bonus.
Sitting up, Cloud looked at the pair of them wryly. "You're new in town, I take it."
They looked back, crimson eyes staring at him with kitten-like curiously. There was no way in the world they could have realised how adorable they appeared like that, and Cloud wasn't about to enlighten them.
"Most people who kill me know better than to stick around afterwards," he explained instead.
"You are killed often?" one of them inquired in polite tones.
Cloud shrugged. Often was a relative term, after all. The brothers conferred silently for a moment before refocusing their attention on him.
"You are Cloud."
"That's right. And you are?"
"Chaos."
"Vincent."
"Nice to meet you," he nodded pleasantly at them both.
"Even though we killed you?" Chaos queried with a raised eyebrow.
"Take me flying again and you can kill me any time you like," Cloud assured him. The demon smirked in response.
"I shall remember that," he promised solemnly, while his eyes danced.
"We apologise for any undue inconvenience caused," Vincent informed him. "We would not have taken this on had we realised."
Cloud blinked. "Why?"
"Bastard set _us_ up," Chaos' grumble somehow turned into a pout. Cloud resisted the urge to smile.
"How did I end up as your target?" he inquired casually.
Vincent shrugged fluidly. "Old man told us you would be a challenge."
"Which 'old man' would that be?"
The twins exchanged a considering glance. "We could show you," was the consensus, delivered almost coquettishly. "For a price."
"Right," said Cloud. He named a figure that had both twins nodding without even taking a peek at one another. Smirking slightly, he stood up, and dusted himself off.
"What will you do?" asked Chaos with interest, his eyes following Cloud's hands intently.
"Explain to him in clear and unmistakeable terms that if he gets to kill me, I get to kill him."
Vincent nodded calmly. "Sounds fair," he commented.
"Sounds fun," his brother grinned viciously. "And we owe him for not telling us who you were."
"Just remember to collect your fee first," Cloud reminded them. "You did kill me, after all."
Vincent nodded again appreciatively, while Chaos snickered wickedly.
Flanked by the smirking twins, Cloud headed off in search of his latest would-be adversary, all the while trying to remember that he really shouldn't feel grateful to someone who wanted him dead. Walking so close to Chaos and Vincent made it awfully hard to remember that for some reason. Especially when their hands kept on brushing against his thighs.
He still had to wonder just how he was going to explain it all to Seph when he brought the twins home. Hopefully it would involve tea and sex, not necessarily in that order - and with a bit of luck it would involve the brothers, too.
Grinning, Cloud decided that it really had turned out to be a pleasant day after all.
