Yuffie walked cheerfully down the street munching on a apple had picked up not too long ago. She had to get to the board offices but she had gotten herself a bit lost in the process. The rain splattered against her face but she refused to let it bother her. As she rounded the corner she noticed a figure out of the corner of her eye shivering in the street. She turned to look and saw Kairi standing there trying to ring out her dress in the rain.

"That won't work!" She called out as she turned to walk towards her. "It won't dry if you try to get water out of it while it's raining." She stopped a few feet from Kairi and smiled at her as she took a bite out of her apple and munched on it happily. "Hi there, you seem a little lost." Yuffie took another bite out of her apple thus finishing it off and lobbed the core into a near by trash can. "Name's Yuffie." Yuffie held out her hand with a smile. "Can I be of service at all?"

Dusk, the time just before the darkness settled in, a time of day he could truly emphasise with. He had been walking through the rain, attempting to get accustomed to it. Thankfully, water did not bother him as much now as it once had.

He stopped walking when he heard a voice though, followed by a second. A voice which sounded... almost familiar, as though he had heard it a long time ago.. but.. who was it?

He moved onwards until he could see the two figures conversing, still unable to pick out any exact words, more a tone of voice, both female, reasonably young, had they too... died? Then again, even the young could die so easily, perhaps in some ways, easier than the elder of the species.

It bothered him somewhat that one of them seemed so nearly familiar though, there should be a name somewhere within his memory, and yet... he could find none. Why?

Lips thinned together to form a single line of annoyance directed purely at himself.

Perhaps if he watched them a little longer... he would be able to work it out?

Kairi turned at the voice, instantly moving to tuck a strand of sopping hair behind her ear. Half of it stayed, the other half of the bunch falling limply and re-sealing itself to the side of her face. Kairi sighed lightly- she probably looked like a wet mess.

"Um...well, I am a little lost." She said quietly, reaching out and taking Yuffie's hand. "My name is Kairi...can you tell me where this place is? I'm...not entirely sure how I got here..." Kairi was now hoping that she didn't look completley stupid, as it seemed this girl- Yuffie- knew her way around, or seemed used to random people showing up on the street.

Yuffie smiled at the girl with a huge grin. "Of course I can tell ya where ya are." She said happily. "But first thing first, let's get you out of the rain. You don't seem exactly comfy standing in the street." Yuffie laughed and led Kairi to a small cafe a little ways down the street. "Here we are, at least it's dry and warm in here." Yuffie slid into a seat and smiled to Kairi. "Alright Miss. Kairi let me welcome you to Mercy Street, it's a second beginning. You'll find quite a few people here." Yuffie smiled at her non-chalantly. "I'm pretty new here myself, arrived a few weeks ago. Have to head to the board offices to get a room and such. You're welcome to join me if ya like." Yuffie laughed innocently as she leaned back against the seat.
"So where abouts you from?"

"It's not a problem at all!" Yuffie replied energetically. "But if we want to get to the board offices before nightfall we better get going." Yuffie stood up and turned to Kairi. "And if your friends are here someone there should know."

With a smile Yuffie held out her hand to Kairi to help lead her to the board offices. "Every step is an adventure right?" Yuffie was using these words to more then convince Kairi but to convince herself as well. She was still uncertain about this place, but at least now she had someone to talk to.

She wasn't going to let such a little hardship bring her down. After all she was a ninja from the village of Wutai, she could handle it.

Well, she sure was hyper- maybe it was for the better. Sora used to tell her all the time that positive attitudes rubbed off on other people and made them happy, too.

"Right." Kairi replied, taking Yuffie's hand and coming to her feet. With Yuffie's words, she had hope- hope that she'd be able to find Sora and Riku.

To make sure they were okay.

Sometimes it got her into trouble, but to a certain extent, she felt like the mother of those two- always worrying for their safety and wishing she could do more. But now...maybe she could.

"Alright, you seemed to know where you were going before I got picked up, so...lead the way!" Kairi said, beaming. Soon, soon she'd be fine...

Yuffie saluted Kairi as if she was saluting the captain of a ship. "Gotcha!" She replied with a smile. "To the board offices to reak havoc we shall go!" Holding onto Kairi's hand Yuffie lead her out of the cafe and down the street towards the board offices to meet with someone.

'This should be interesting and fun at the same time...' she thought to herself.
