I got all my wisdom teeth pulled at the same time. Afterward, I was in pain for a day or two, but the operation itself was completely painless. I felt absolutely nothing. I hope it's that easy for you.

If you dislike needles (as I do), have them give you a little gas before they knock you out. They did that with me and I didn't even notice the needle, much less the tooth extraction. Good luck!!!

I hope they knock me out SO FAR that I have no idea what's going on for the next week.

...

I am a giant, giant wuss. *g* And I'm weird about needles... I love tattoos, and IVs don't bother me, but little needles they use for blood work and the giant Novocain needles scare the bejeesus out of me.

how many wisdoms have to be removed? I had all 4 done at once and they actually knocked me out with intravenous sedation. It was done at an outpatient surgery facility.

All four, plus two teeth in the back row on my upper left jaw that are, like, mysteriously rotting for no reason. And one of the wisdom teeth is impacted. *whimper*

Yeah, one of mine was badly impacted too. See if they'll do the outpatient thing and then they'll do IV sedation. You drift off to sleep and when you wake up, it's all over. I think it took a couple of uncomfortable days and then I was functioning pretty well. (Not counting me finding out then that I was allergic to codeine.)

Oh, they're definitely doing the outpatient thing, and I am going to bed for whatever kind of sedation they can possibly give me. *g*

Also, oooh, poor you... finding out you're allergic to codeine after minor surgery cannot be fun. *hugs*

Ha! That's pretty much exactly how I felt about my oral surgery! I love being sedated. I think we should get sedated for crowns too. Sedation goooooood.

Get lots of drugs for afterward. Lots and lots. Good luck.

I think we should get sedated for, like, fillings. *is giant wuss*

You'll be fine. *pets* Really, extractions are much more fun than most types of oral surgery. I just had a crown buildup done on a tooth without a root canal on it, and it is FAR MORE EFFING PAINFUL than when I had my extractions.

*shudder* Nothing about the dentist is fun. And since I know that it'll be at least a week before I get the extractions, I'm going to build myself up into a panic, because that is how I roll. *g*

I will be sure to dig out a pair of elastic waistband pants, seriously, I like, wrote it down. *g* Thank you for the advice!

Also, hee. That reminds me of the first time I had kidney stones? I was sort of in between two shifts of doctors, and they accidentally doubled my medication, so instead of one Vicodan, I got two, and instead of one Trazadone shot, I got two. So after all the fuss, my dad drove me home, and I fell out of the car and cracked up. Then he helped me over to the front porch, helped me walk up the stairs, and turned to unlock the door... and I promptly fell off of the porch and cracked up again. *g*
