Feeling Helpless, but Not Hopeless!

We have some friends who are in their 5th month of pregnancy. They found that there is a cyst growing in their child's chest that is squishing all of the organs and jeopardizing the pregnancy. They are with the best specialists and getting all the medical care that they can, but as a friend I feel helpless as to how to help them. Words are

Oh, Mere, what a heart-wrenching situation! I have no idea what to say, either; perhaps the best course is just to listen when they need to talk. It's so hard to stand by and watch, but I don't know what else would help. :(
