Desk meme

May 17, 2006 23:24

I so shouldn't be on here. I have a ton of things to get accomplished and so little time in which to accomplish them. (For example, parent/teacher conferences start next Monday and I've written 4 partial evaluations out of 11. *sigh*) Anyway, I am here (and spent a decent amount of time on Photoshop before this) because of a meme started by alliecat8Read more... )

Now if only it weren't Sawyer the cat under my desk! *grin*

*lol* I hear you. I'm starting to get hooked on "Lost" and Sawyer the man looks quite sexy... ;)

Anyway, thanks for the pics!

You're starting to get hooked on Lost? Isn't Italy about to show the first season finale? Sawyer the man is the main reason I became hooked on Lost. There's just something about him.

Yes, but I say 'starting' because it usually takes me a while to get hooked on a TV show. It's rarely love at first sight, I need time to know the characters, understand who they are and where they come from but anyway yeah, there's just something about him. ;)

I can understand that. It took me until episode 8 to become hooked on Lost, and I didn't get truly hooked on WaT until the second season. I'm glad to see another Sawyer fan. I just love the "bad" guys on television, even if I don't care for them in RL. :)

I got Sawyer last June, just after my birthday. And it's nice to be able to say things like, "Come here Sawyer, so I can pet you."

I'm thinking cloning might be a bit out of my price range, but I'll keep you in mind. *grin*

(And I know I said I'd given up on a certain icontest, but I still want to know what my last comments were and how many votes I got. WTF is up with it? I know that at least one person (me, obviously) volunteered to deal with the logistics so at least everyone could get comments, but so far, nothing is happening. *sigh*)

You could always go for a goldfish, but that's probably not as exciting. *grin*

I was talking about makingthe_cut. I don't care about the contest so much anymore, but I was curious to see who voted for me/how many votes I got, so I applied to be a mod. She took over a month to say that she had gotten responses from 5 people, and she was going to turn the community over to us. It's been a few weeks since, and nothing has happened. *sigh* It's not even like the mod has been off of the Internet, as I have seen her post frequently in the journal of a mutual friend. I just don't understand people.

I know I should let it go, but hey, I'm still curious, and it takes minimal investment on my part as I don't plan on actually doing anything with the community. (Because, I mean, really? There aren't going to be any people left after the shitty way this community has been dealt with.) I keep thinking that I've forgotten it, but then something will trigger a memory and I get curious all over again.

I'm sure everyone's desk is better than mine! *grin* As far as the keyboard goes, it is scary. With a desktop, it's no big deal to get a new keyboard. With a laptop, however... *sigh* I really shouldn't abuse it so.

A month later... I would think you can replace the keys on the keyboard, as they seem to pop off (and then back on) fairly easily in my experience. I just haven't gotten around to checking it out yet. (Because I'm lazy like that rather busy at present.)

Hmmm I'm so bad at understanding how things talk about their owners, but I'm gonna try. From the amount of papers you have there, and the non functioning scanner, I'd say you find hard to rid yourself of things even when you don't need them; the picture of the kid and the candle tells me you are affectionate to your kids - but I already knew that.

The keyboard tells me that you need a new keyboard *grin*.
Don't be ashamed of your desk, I'll do this meme later today and you'll see that mine is not so much better.
Ah, and Sawyer looks gorgeus (the cat, I mean - not that Sawyer the man doesn't...).

Now if only it weren't Sawyer the cat under my desk! *grin*

And you have a dirty mind ;)

While that is very true, the papers and the scanner speak to other facets of my personality. First, I hate getting rid of things that might potentially be useful. For example, the papers only have writing on one side (and not even the full side), so I can't get rid of them, because I could write on them again. The non-functioning scanner is a testament to my laziness. It actually could work (it did when my parents had it hooked up to their computer), but with everyone scanning pictures and posting them already, I haven't felt the need to actually figure out how to hook it up and make it work yet. *grin*

Yes, I do need a new keyboard. Unfortunately, that's not so easy with a laptop!

We so have this in common, the paper you see on the left in the picture Iposted? It's paper that I it's written only onone side, so I don't get rid of it because I can write on the other sie - or give it to my son so he can draw.
About that other question, I don't think the reason is the challenge, i fear it's WAt, there is a constant lackof participation in all the things regarding WAT; MPUE board used to have at last 50 members who posted regularly, but now, it's just 10 when it goes well.
And I can't think of a way to boast participation, I could pimp the comm again inmy journal, ask my friend to join, but I don't know if it'll actually work.
Maybe it's just a passing thing.
For the other matter, the guilty trip, don't worry, about it, I'll enter even when I'mnot feeling inspired, because it's you (but this makes me ask myself if the icons I entered looked so not-inspired *grin*).
Meh!

I need to finish up so much stuff right now, but I couldn't let this go without comment. Of course they didn't! (I especially liked the second one.) I just meant that you were complaining about how WaT wasn't making you feel much of anything anymore, so I was thanking you for making icons despite that feeling. And, you're right. Maybe others are feeling that, and not "knowing" me, don't really feel inspired to participate right now. Here's to a kick ass finale that will carry the icontest through the summer hiatus.

LOL, I read about the paper thing. Of course on my desktop, beneath the papers where I left notes that are waiitng to be copied in word docs, there are a lot of sheet to be used on their other side *g*.

I'm giggling because, though we come from different cultures and everything, we organise (wow, maybe organise is a little too strong word) the stuff on our desk just in the same way... mess included!!

I bet calling Sawyer and tell him 'I'm gonna pet you' must sound hot!!

If I ever have a puppy, he's destined to be called Danny. Definitely.

I like that you save things from your little kids.

My keyboard is only one year old and it's starting to have some letters softer than before. *g*

I had never asked myself, but it's interesting: how can you replace a laptop keyboard??

Well, this is a month late, but better late than never, right? (And I'll eventually get around to the other replies, email and what-have-you, I promise ( ... )
