Recap of the WaT season finale, "Endgame"

Last new ep of the season...

A guy gives Paige a cup of coffee in her cubicle. She comments that he used paper cups instead of Styrofoam this time. She jokes/flirts with him a bit, and he walks off saying, “We are who we are, right?” She responds with, “I guess.” (If that isn’t a prophetic exchange on this show, I don’t know what is…) She stands up and sees a guy walking into the office. The smile fades off her face and becomes a look of panic when she sees the guy asking questions and being directed over to her. She sinks down into her seat, and the coffee guy asks her what the matter is. The guy looks pretty menacing as he walks over to her cubicle. Paige is no longer there. Coffee guy (I think that Paige said his name is Kevin, so I’m going with that) said that she told him she needed some air. Cut to Paige looking quite upset and walking quickly out of the office. She fades away.

23 hours missing. Martin is questioning the boss about the guy that came to look for Paige. The guy told the boss that his name was Detective Bowman and he just wanted to see Paige about a routine inquiry. Martin asks the boss if Paige was in any trouble. He says that he didn’t think so, but her roommate said that Paige didn’t come home the night before, and with the police showing up… Paige has been at Infomerge for 2 years; her job involves data analysis. (They collect market records on people and then sell it to companies based on the demographic that the companies want to target with advertising.) Jack interrupts and pulls Martin out to tell him that he contacted the NYPD and “Detective Bowman” doesn’t exist. This is the point that I wish the promos hadn’t given away that she was involved in terrorism. She seemed like such a great person, and the case seemed like it could go in any direction, but knowing the terrorism angle limits any possibilities that I might have otherwise considered.

24 hours missing. Kevin confirms the picture of the cop was the guy that wigged Paige out. He tells Jack that they’ve known each other for six months but nothing is going on outside of work. “I’m not her type. Too shallow.” With a half-smirk on his face, Jack says, “That’s an honest admission” and then asks what her type is. Kevin says, “Put it this way, she’s a do-gooder.” She is involved in a bunch of activist organizations such as Greenpeace. Jack asks how she can reconcile that with working at Infomerge. Kevin says that she did feel like a sell-out, and it came to a head a few months ago. Flashback to Kevin telling Paige that “Fit ‘n’ Thin” wants to gather data on a certain group of people. (Side note: Nice continuity connecting this episode to “American Goddess.” It tunes in to the feelings that Danny and Samantha expressed in that episode.) They are looking for ten million females, 25-49, single or divorced, Caucasian (because as a group white women are more dissatisfied with their bodies)… Paige gets a bit upset and says, “All this information, this great technology, to hawk diet pills….There are kids going hungry, there are people without health care, there are schools without textbooks, and we’re doing this? …Doesn’t it ever bother you?” Kevin tells her that she does a lot of stuff on her own that redeem her. “Unlike me, you actually make a difference.” She looks dejected and says, “Not enough of one. Not even close.” Kevin says, “I think you just need to get laid.” She gives a delayed smile, scoffs, and says, “That’s your solution to everything.” Kevin tells Jack that a few weeks later Paige was a new person, all mellowed out, looking better. Jack says, “So you think she took your advice.” Kevin says that he knows she did, but he doesn’t have any idea who she is seeing.

Cut to a hospital and a doctor entering Vivian’s room, asking how she is doing. He explains the procedure to her. To make a long story short…They will prep her, stop her heart, and put her on a bypass machine. The doctor will surgically thin out the heart muscle and then restart her heart. The whole procedure should take a few hours, and although there are risks, the doctor is confident that it will go well; he’s done a lot of these procedures. Vivian doesn’t look so reassured.

Cut to Martin who tells Jack that the coffee vendor outside of Paige’s building thought that he saw someone matching her description hop into a cab. Martin tells Jack that he has agents back at the office contacting dispatchers. Jack tells him to also have the agents distribute pictures of her to the train and bus stations, the Transit Authority, and the airports. Jack says that he will see Martin back at the office, but he has to make a stop first.

25 hours missing. Paige’s roommate has never seen the “cop” before. Samantha asks her if Paige has any enemies. The roommate says that she doesn’t and asks if anyone has contacted Paige’s sister in Cincinnati. Samantha says that the sister has been contacted and is flying in. Danny asks if it is okay for him to look at the computer. The roommate says that it is fine. Samantha asks about the person Paige is dating. The roommate says that Paige had been dating him for a few months and it was the happiest she had ever seen her, but Paige wouldn’t tell her his name; she assumed he was married. She has never seen him, and as far as she knows, he has never been by the apartment (although she is out of town three weeks a month). Danny found some pictures, including one of a guy, and he shows them to her. She says that she has no idea who the people are. Samantha says that right before she went missing, Paige made a call to Julia Gomez. Julia is a girl that Paige has been mentoring. About a week ago, she came to the apartment. Flashback to an agitated Julia telling Paige that she is eight weeks pregnant and doesn’t know what to do; she doesn’t believe in abortion, can’t raise the child on her own, and doesn’t think adoption will work. Julia says that the father told her to get an abortion or he will kill her; he’s a cop, and she thinks he is married. Julia breaks down in tears, and Paige hugs her. Samantha asks the roommate if she knows if Julia told Paige the cop’s name. The roommate doesn’t know, but adds, “Paige is really devoted to that girl. Knowing her, she didn’t let it go.” (Once again, I feel the need to mention that I’m upset that the promos gave away that this is a terrorist related case. I so would have bought the ‘angry cop going after Paige because she interfered in this situation’ angle if I hadn’t already known that it wasn’t that. Damn promo weasels.) The phone rings, and the roommate goes to answer it.

Cut to Danny and Samantha driving down the street. They find Julia and introduce themselves. They show her the picture of the “cop” who was after Paige and ask her if he was her boyfriend. She says that she has never seen that guy before. Samantha tells her that the guy in the picture was after Paige and now Paige is missing. Danny asks her what Paige called her about. Julia tells them that Paige called her to say she needed to come by, and when she did stop by, Julia knew something was up. Flashback to Paige pulling up in a taxi. She looks really worried/agitated. She gives Julia a package for her baby. Julia gets upset and says, “You’re bailing on me, aren’t you.” Paige responds that she isn’t bailing on her, but she has to leave. She gives Julia a hug and then jumps back in the cab. She tells Julia not to tell anyone she saw her and has the driver leave. Julia opens the package and takes out a bundle of cash. She tells Danny and Samantha that it was $50,000. She says that she was worried about what was happening with Paige but was afraid that if she called the cops, she would get Paige into worse trouble. Danny says that they are going to need the money, and she retorts that she doesn’t care about the money…she just wants Paige back.

Cut to the hospital. Vivian is lying in bed, not looking so great physically. She also looks extremely worried. The camera pans to the door as Jack enters. Vivian isn’t so happy to see him. She says that she told him she didn’t want any visitors. “Do you think I want you to see me like this?” Jack looks flustered and says in a soft voice, “Oh, uh… You know, I’m really sorry…I didn’t think it through. I just wanted you to know that I was…um…thinking about you…and uh…I didn’t mean to barge in. I’m sorry.” He turns to go, and Vivian stops him by saying “Three o’clock.” That’s the time that she’ll be in surgery. Jack says, “Okay, take care,” and leaves.

26 hours missing. Back in the office, Samantha says that she got the information on the cop that Julia gave them and he is in the clear on Paige but internal affairs is all over him. Danny then chimes in saying that they lucked out with the money; they were able to trace it via the bands around it to a specific account at a specific bank. Samantha walks over to Danny and sits on the edge of his desk. Martin looks over at them with a serious expression on his face, but doesn’t say anything. The account is in the name of “Sara Reynolds” and contains $250,000. Danny obtains Sara’s driver’s license picture, and it turns out that she is really Paige. Danny says, “She really gets around.” Samantha responds, “I’ll say. 250 grand, a secret boyfriend…” Martin interjects with, “That might explain this.” Samantha gets up off of Danny’s desk and goes over to Martin. He says that there is such an advanced security system on her computer that he can’t find anything other than another picture of the guy that was also in the pictures at the apartment. Danny tells them that the sister just got here and asks if they want to take her. Their heads swivel around in unison at that. Then Martin says, “Why not?” and Samantha looks at him. The closed captioning says that Samantha responds with “sure” while Martin gets up, but I didn’t hear anything. She does give him a couple of interesting (not-so-happy) glances as she gathers up her stuff to follow him, however.

Cut to the interrogation room. Martin shows Paige’s sister the picture of the guy he found on Paige’s computer. She says that his name is Adisa Teno and Paige met him in Makeba, Africa about 4 years ago when she went there to work for a relief organization just after graduating college. Samantha asks her if Paige has seen Adisa recently. Her sister says that she didn’t think so, until two weeks ago. She stopped by Paige’s place when she was in town on business, and he was there. Cut to a flashback of Adisa, Paige, and her sister sitting quietly. The sister looks strained and makes what seems to be another attempt at polite conversation by asking when Adisa got into town. He says that he got there two months ago. The sister looks a bit hurt by the fact that she didn’t know this earlier, and says, “Two months. Paige, you never even said anything.” Paige says that she wanted to keep him to herself. The sister tries to continue the conversation. “So, you’ll be staying in the United States. What about Makeba?” Adisa says that he is not welcome in his country. She looks a little taken aback and asks why that is. Paige jumps on her with indignation. “Beth (yay, a name other than ‘the sister!’) don’t you know what’s going on there? What’s happening to his people?” Beth looks uncomfortable and says that she thought that they elected a new president. Paige just starts going off about the corrupt general, his death squads, and other oh-so-cheerful information. Adisa tries to calm her down by putting his hand on her arm and asking if they could change the subject, but she doesn’t even acknowledge him or his attempt. Paige continues her rant, saying, “You know what the drug companies are doing about it?” Beth states, “Drug companies like the one I’m with, you mean.” Paige doesn’t let that stop her. “They’re overcharging for AIDS medication. They’re doing experimental drug trials on kids…On kids, Beth!” Beth calmly retorts, “And you’re on a moral high ground working for Infomerge.” This, of course, doesn’t calm Paige down. “Well, at least I’m trying to help!” Adisa finally connects with Paige and gets her to stop talking politics. Despite the fact the discussion is over, the tension is still thick in the air. Neither Beth nor Paige looks at all happy. Finally Paige gives a tiny smile, and she and Adisa kiss. Beth tells Samantha and Martin that when she had a moment alone with Paige, she had asked her flat out if Adisa might be with her just for a green card, but Paige said that they were in love. Martin says, “But you had a bad feeling about him. Beth responds, “Paige is a sucker for strays. Even when we were kids, she would always rescue them… no matter how many times they bit her.”

Cut to Jack in the main office asking Samantha if Beth gave them anything useful. She gives him the boyfriend’s name, and he says that he will track it down. Danny then interjects, saying that the tech found a lot on Paige’s work computer. She had downloaded over a million records (names, credit cards, social security numbers). Samantha clarifies…“identity theft.” Jack says, “Either way…she sold the data to a fraud ring, or she’s part of one.” He then finds Adisa Teno’s name on the terrorist watch list. He’s a member of the Makeba Liberation Front. Danny says that maybe Adisa is connected to Jeraf Holdings. Paige’s bank account has fluctuated between $250,000 and $1,000,000, and the money is transferred out to an account in the name of Jeraf Holdings every few weeks. The last transfer was yesterday, after Paige disappeared. Samantha asks if they should contact the CIA, but Jack says that instead they should go “straight to the source.”

Cut to Danny looking sort of furtive with hunched shoulders and sunglasses, walking along a sidewalk. The camera then pans around to show Samantha and Jack crossing a street. Samantha asks Jack if he thinks Vivian will be okay. He says that he doesn’t know. He then asks Samantha how she is doing. She gets defensive and asks, “What do you mean?” He says innocently, “How are you? How are you doing?” Samantha remains defensive and curtly replies, “It’s not affecting my work, Jack.” Jack queries, “What isn’t?” Samantha states, “Me and Martin.” Jack tells her that he wasn’t talking about Martin, and Samantha replies, “What were you talking about?” Jack frustratedly retorts, “I was just trying to have a damn conversation.” Samantha starts to say something conciliatory, but interrupts herself when she spies the “cop” that was after Paige getting out of a car. The “cop” starts talking to General Gamba. Samantha says that she can’t wait to see what he has to say for himself, but Jack says they can’t ask him there because they have no jurisdiction. Jack tells her to go back to the office and see if she can put a name to the face. Samantha asks what he is going to do, and he replies, “He can’t stay inside there forever.” Samantha walks off.

Cut to the operating room. Vivian has been prepped for surgery. The doctor talks with her for a bit, and then the anesthesiologist puts her under.

Cut to Samantha talking on the phone to Jack. She says that the website has the names of the consulate staff, but no pictures. He asks if there are any non-African names on the list (as the “cop” was Caucasian), and she responds that she can’t see any. Jack cuts the conversation short because he sees the “cop” in question outside of the consulate. He introduces himself, and the other guy says that he is Emil Donfros, security attaché for General Gamba. (Can I say how cute it was that Jack (even after all of these times that he has flashed his ID) initially had his ID upside down and flipped it over after glancing down at it?) Jack asks Emil what his interest is in Paige. Emil responds with a question of his own, “What’s yours?” Jack says that Paige is missing. Emil says that he was unaware of that fact. He went to Paige’s office because his counterintelligence has identified her as having close ties to Adisa Teno. He continues that Adisa and the M.L.F. are a grave threat to the General, possibly trying to assassinate him, and could possibly also be a threat to Makeba and Paige herself. Jack retorts that being a threat to Makeba is the perception of General Gamba here. Emil says that the General has brought order, while Adisa and his people just want anarchy. “And more people will die.” He then walks away from Jack. Jack says that he’s not done with him, but Emil says that he is now within the five meter buffer zone of the consulate so is technically on foreign soil and thus untouchable.

Cut to Martin saying that he has a lead on Paige. She changed cabs several times and was ultimately dropped off at the corner of South and Fulton. Martin says that after that her trail gets cold. Danny disagrees, saying, “No, actually, her trail gets hot. Jeraf Holdings owns a warehouse two blocks away from there.”

28 hours missing. Cut to the exterior said warehouse and armed agents taking up position. Jack speaks into his radio asking if they have the exits covered. Martin replies in the affirmative. Jack gives the order to head in, and they do so. They interrupt people with shredded documents and other cover-up preparations. Lots of weapons can be seen lying around. Jack stops Adisa, who is coming down some stairs and asks him where Paige is. He doesn’t answer.

29 hours missing. Jack is with Adisa in interrogation. Jack reads the very impressive list of armaments that were found in the warehouse (including 16 rocket launchers). He then looks Adisa in the eyes, leans in, and deadpans, “You know, I would say that you were taking our second amendment just a bit too far.” He then opens up a rifle case, saying “And I would assume that this is what you intended to assassinate General Gamba with.” Adisa tries to act as if he is on the moral high ground and says, “Don’t you think he deserves it?” Jack responds that General Gamba is not his concern, and Adisa retorts, “Shouldn’t he be?” Adisa then claims that Jack works for General Gamba and that Jack will end up deporting Adisa back to Makeba, where he will be shot. Jack stays calm and says, “My only concern is Paige. Now where is she?” Adisa tries to claim that he hasn’t seen her, but Jack says that he is lying because they found her fingerprints all over the warehouse. Jack starts to rant about how Adisa was just using Paige and her Infomerge information to make money. Adisa says that it wasn’t about money. Jack retorts, “It sure ain’t about love either, because the minute she became a liability, you got rid of her.” Adisa is very agitated at this point and shouts, “That’s not true!” Jack then calmly accuses Adisa of not helping Paige when she came to see him after Emil tracked her down at her office. Jack then shows Adisa a picture of Emil and asks him if he knows who the guy is. Adisa says that all he knows is that the man is a killer. Jack replies, “That’s what he says about you.”

Cut to another M.L.F. member in a different interrogation room. He tells Danny and Martin that he knows nothing about their “white girl.” Danny then very authoritatively says, “Based on the weapon charges alone, we can detain you indefinitely. Now, if you help us find the girl, we will help you.” The terrorist asks how they can help him, and Martin says, “By not deporting you to Makeba. Now, I’m sure that the people running that country would love to have you back.” Danny and Martin do a really good job of tag teaming the terrorist, finishing each other’s sentences, and basically telling him that they have completely wrapped up the assassination plot, he’s screwed, and he might as well talk to them. The terrorist says something vehemently in an African language. Then he says, “It’s because of that bitch.” Flashback to Adisa testing and adjusting the scope on a rifle, while the other terrorist looks on. The door opens, admitting Paige. The other terrorist quickly pulls out his gun and points it at her, but Adisa stops him and asks Paige what she is doing there. She tells them that one of Gamba’s men stopped by her office. The other terrorist says that she was probably followed to the warehouse, but she says she wasn’t; she changed cabs. Adisa says, “If he can find you there, then he can find us here. We need to pack up and go.” Paige notices all of the weaponry and asks Adisa what it all is. Adisa calmly says, “General Gamba is in town. When word of his death reaches our forces in Makeba, they’ll storm the presidential palace.” Paige is visibly upset and says that Adisa told her that the money was for opposition candidates and relief supplies. Adisa responds, “These are relief supplies.” He says that she must have known deep down. She stares at him dumbfoundedly for a second and then asks, “Adisa, what happened to you?” He tells her that they murdered his family, including burning his brother alive. He very impassionedly says, “It requires one moment to spark a revolution. A moment that moves the people to rise up and take action! This is that moment, I can feel it!” It doesn’t convince Paige. She says that she cannot do it; she doesn’t have it in her. She moves to go, but Adisa stops her by grabbing her arm and saying that he doesn’t think he can let her go. The other terrorist steps in and says that he always knew that involving her was a mistake. He seems much colder about the whole situation than Adisa does. Adisa tells the other terrorist to leave because “Paige and I must…talk.” Because of the pause before he says, “talk,” it sounds like he means to do anything but. The other terrorist walks away, giving a suspicious glance over his shoulder as he does so. He tells Danny and Martin that he went for a walk on the docks and when he returned, Paige was gone. Adisa didn’t tell him what he had done, but, “I know what I would have done.” His body language gives every indication that what he would have done would not have been nice and probably would have ended with Paige’s death.

Cut to Jack telling Adisa that he knows that Paige wanted nothing to do with the situation and accusing him of killing her. Adisa says that he never could have hurt her. Flashback to Adisa’s conversation with Paige. He apologizes. Paige says that she sees why he is doing what he is doing, but she cannot be a part of it. He states, “But you will let me do what must be done.” She doesn’t answer him but gives him a sort of dejected half nod before asking, “Was any of it real between us?” Adisa replies, “You will always be in my heart.” Paige sighs and wishes him luck. Adisa asks if she means it, and she gives an emphatic nod this time. They hug. When they separate, Adisa gives her a gun. She gives him a shocked look. Adisa tells her, “You don’t believe in hurting people, but don’t let them hurt you.” He then strokes her cheek and opens the car door for her. Jack says in a rather sarcastic tone, “You know, that is incredibly heartwarming.” Jack asks where Paige was taken, but Adisa won’t tell him. Jack then accuses Adisa of shooting Paige with the gun, rather than giving it to her.

Cut to Jack walking towards Samantha’s desk. She asks him what he got from Adisa. He replies that he didn’t get much and asks what she’s got. She shows him a picture of Emil and says, “Neil Dornvald. He’s from South Africa. Served in the 32 battalion. Since then he’s worked as a mercenary for private armies in Angola, the Congo, Sierra Leone…he also did work for the CIA.” Danny walks up to them and peers at the picture. Martin can then be heard on the phone saying, “Right. When?” Paige was spotted at Grand Central. She bought a one-way to Cincinnati. It’s set to leave at 2:45, so they have 20 minutes. Jack tells Martin to get the train held because they are on their way.

Cut to Grand Central, and Sam striding quickly to meet up with Jack. She tells him that Paige isn’t on the train, so maybe she changed her mind about traveling. He says that there is a transit cop covering every exit and that she should sweep the train again. Samantha walks away, and Jack notices a clock that says it is three o’clock. He stares off into the distance with a serious expression on his face.

Cut to the operating room. Vivian is out cold and the surgeon is finishing up. He gets the internal paddles to start her heart back up, but despite being shocked numerous times, the monitor still shows a flatline. He says, “Come on, once more,” as he shocks her again, but the steady beep still sounds.

30 hours missing. Back at the offices, Danny spots a picture of Vivian with Reggie on her desk and gets a serious look on his face. His musings are interrupted by Martin who says that some activity popped up on Paige’s cell account at 2:38. Someone called her twice and sent a picture message. The call came from Julia Gomez’s phone.

Cut to Samantha and Jack getting out of a car. Police radios can be heard in the background. Jack flashes his ID and asks what is going on. The cop directs them to an alley where another cop tells them that Julia Gomez has been murdered. Her body is in a small offshoot of the alley; she has been shot once in the forehead. Samantha notices Julia’s cell phone lying next to her body and comments that she must have called Paige right before she was killed. Jack picks up the phone and says that whoever called Paige, it wasn’t Julia. He then shows Samantha that the picture that was sent to Paige was of Julia’s corpse. Samantha asks the cop if they have any suspects. He says that a couple of witnesses saw a tall white man get into a car and leave the scene. Jack asks what kind of car it was. The cop says that it was an SUV. Samantha murmurs, “Dornvald.” They both look grim.

32 hours missing. Cut to Danny telling Jack on the phone that they are all dialed in. He put out an APB and an interagency alert on Dornvald, plus stop notices at all of the airports, border crossings… Jack tells him to keep them posted. He then asks from his headquarters in the car if everyone is clear on the plan. Martin says that they are, while he and Samantha walk across the same street that Jack and Samantha did earlier. They all wait. Jack uses this opportunity to call Saint Andrew’s Hospital. While Martin and Samantha pretend to be a couple looking at the newspaper, Jack tries to get information about Vivian’s condition but is just told that she is still in surgery. More waiting ensues. Jack tells Martin and Samantha, “Heads up, a car’s coming,” and their heads swivel up from the paper simultaneously. Jack gets out of his car. He tells them to move into second position. The SUV pulls up to the curb. Jack inches toward the car. A guy gets out and starts to open up the back door. Jack says, “Let’s drag this guy out of the five meter zone if we have to.” The door opens fully, allowing General Gamba to get out. Alone. A man races out of the consulate and whispers something urgently into the General’s ear. Jack says, “Let’s reset,” and all three of them walk away. Cut to Paige hiding behind a newsstand and watching the General. She calmly and determinedly walks toward him. Jack glances back and sees her resolute progress. He tells Samantha and Martin that he just made Paige heading their way. She pulls a gun out of her bag. Martin is the first to react, whipping out his gun and yelling, “She’s got a gun! Paige, drop the gun!” Samantha also takes out her weapon, but they are too late. Paige fires three shots point blank into General Gamba. Martin gets Paige down on the ground, while Samantha gets the consulate security people to drop their weapons and Jack calls for a paramedic. Paige looks a little shell shocked while lying on the ground with her hands behind her back, almost like she cannot believe what she has done.

Cut to the interrogation room. Paige is writing something, while Samantha watches. After a few moments of silence, Samantha says, “You don’t seem like the type.” Paige looks up from her writing and calmly says, “I’m not.” Samantha asks if it was the plan all along that she would be the shooter. When Paige responds negatively, Samantha asks why she did it. Paige says that she was about to leave for Cincinnati when everything changed. Flashback to Paige receiving a cell phone call while at Grand Central Station. It is Dornvald. He tells her they need to talk about Adisa Teno, and she hangs up on him. He calls back and when she asks who he is and what he wants, he says, “I just sent you something.” Paige looks down at the screen of her phone and sees the picture of Julia’s corpse. She is horrified and asks what he did to Julia. Dornvald calmly replies, “There will be no assassination. Adisa is under arrest. It’s all done but the cleanup. Which is where you come in. I want names, faces, locations of the other M.L.F. members to ensure that this never happens again. In return, I’ll stop killing people you love. Sounds like you are in a train station, Miss Hobson. Which one?” Paige gets a determined expression on her face as he is giving his speech and she tells him that she’s in Hartford, Connecticut. He tells her to expect him in two hours and then hangs up and cavalierly throws the phone back down next to Julia and walks off. Paige resolutely stalks out of the train station. She then says to Samantha, “Adisa says that there is a moment that makes people take action. I guess that was my moment.” Samantha asks why she didn’t go after Dornvald, and she replies, “Because he’s not the real problem. But he should pay for what he did.” Samantha says that he will when they find him. Her phone then rings. She listens for a moment in silence then thanks the person on the other end. She then quietly tells Paige, “It’s murder now. General Gamba is dead.” Paige doesn’t look happy that she was successful in her assassination attempt. In fact, there are tears welling in her eyes, and her lip is quivering a bit; however, all she says is, “I always wanted to make a difference. Maybe now I have.” Samantha just stares at her until she finally looks back down at the table.

Cut to Jack, who is back in the interrogation room with Adisa. Jack tells him that news of the General’s assassination reached the rebels, who stormed the palace. Unfortunately for the rebels, news of the assassination also reached the government and they fortified the building. Adisa tries to act positive, saying, “So it’s a battle.” Jack says that with Gamba out of the way, there might be a chance for things to get better. He then collects his papers and starts to leave. Adisa then asks how Paige is. Jack tells him, “She’s not the girl you first met,” and then heads out the door. Adisa sighs. Jack looks at him through the one-way glass.

Cut to Martin removing the picture of Paige from the missing person’s whiteboard. He then removes the picture of Adisa from the neighboring board. He then glances over at a television which is showing fire and mayhem with the caption “Uprising in Makeba.” He then glances back at Dornvald’s picture on the board, but doesn’t remove it.

Cut to Samantha escorting a handcuffed Paige out of interrogation.

Cut to Danny handcuffing Adisa and he and Martin escorting him into the elevator. As they get into the elevator, Adisa sees Paige with Samantha. They look at each other but don’t acknowledge each other.

Cut to Jack walking quickly through the hallways of the hospital. He reaches his destination-the waiting room containing Vivian’s husband. He is sitting down with his head in his hands. He looks serious for a moment, but then he smiles, even as he has tears in his eyes, and nods. Jack gives a small smile in return.

Cut to a car driving down the street. Martin is driving, with Danny beside him, and Adisa is being transported in the back. The silence is broken by the ring of Danny’s cell phone. It’s Jack telling him that Vivian is going to be okay. Danny breaks into a huge grin and tells Martin that Viv is fine. As they pull up to a light, a van cuts in front of them. Danny ends the conversation, and Jack turns to look through the window at an unconscious Vivian. The light turns green, but the van in front of the guys’ car doesn’t move. Martin impatiently says, “Come on, man, let’s go. It’s a green light.” He honks the horn. The camera flashes to Adisa and then to Danny as he says, “At least we’re ending the day on an up note.” (Damn, Danny, why did you have to curse it like that?!?!) Martin agrees and looks over at him. They share a glance and a smirk. Then the back doors of the van in front of them open up, discharging two men with automatic weapons who commence firing at the car. With ominous music, the screen goes to black. My heart jumps. 3 months?!?! We have to wait 3 months to find out what happens?!?!?! My only hope is since Martin and Danny were transporting a prisoner, their car might have been equipped with bulletproof glass. Nothing is allowed to happen to either of my boys! (At least nothing serious. Wounding is okay, death is not.)

All I can say is TPTB are evil. Evil I tell you! I cannot believe that they are making us wait all summer for resolution to this. (I suppose I should get used to this feeling as I am sure that Lost is going to end with a cliffhanger as well… *sigh*
