So, I babysat last night after work and the parents didn't want the kids going to bed, as they are traveling to Canada today and wanted them to sleep in the car. Consequently, I worked with kids from about 7:15am to 9:45pm. I was so drained when I got home ( Read more... )

I wish we didnt have to do it now cause alot of people on my team are slacking atm it should have been at the end of the round or something......

Team Denna rocks. I was seriously impressed with them at their icon pass it on. We were commenting that they had to be on steroids or something.

I don't really have many active operatives either. About half my members are completely new to land comms and I have a few really enthusiastic people, but my whole team is only something like 11/12 people of whom not all are active.

I really think it would be better in a later phase when there are more active people and teams have bonded more. I may grouse about the legendland one, but as it was at the end of Phase 3 and we had a lot of members, with a good portion of active members, it worked out okay. I definitely bonded with my team over the challenge! I just don't see that happening at the start of Phase 1. Oh well!

At one point reallyally and I were making, uploading, posting in a minute each. However, I couldn't carry that pace on the entire time and we had some newbies that took substantially longer. Plus it took us awhile to get our rhythm going. It seemed like Denna came out of the gate like crazy and just kept going throughout the whole challenge. Sort of like the Energizer bunny! :D

We only have 3 icons so far, including one of mine! We are crazy slow. How are you guys doing?

I am going to try my damndest, but because of the nature of the challenge, I need at least one more person as crazy/determined as I am willing to icon with me, as I cannot use my own prompts.

Not yet! Which land comms are you in? I'm Cara at legendland, Burned at caperland, Trek at JJverse, Mordor at themiddleearth (which I recommend highly, if you're not already over there), and Galactica (I think!) at twelvecolonies.

So far it is low key. The maintainer of the land comm said she wasn't expecting more than 3-4 pages of icons for the entire week. I'm itching at the challenge being open and no one doing it, though, NGL.

I'm trying to kick icon butt, but no one will play with me! *pouts*

Ugh, I would be like that, too. You know how to make icons in a minute, someone needs to get on there and help that happen! I hated and loved that challenge. It felt like we were never sleeping, but it was fun because someone was always online, and we had this ICONICONICON feeling going on. Still, I wouldn't want to do it right now! ;)

It's funny, because I am in that ICONICONICON space right now and my team is not. I'm trying to tone it down, as I don't want to come across as too strong, but I don't think I'm succeeding. (One of my team members said she didn't want to use picture prompts, but rather word prompts because "They leave a lot of room to play around and be creative." I totally respect playing around and being creative in a graphics challenge, but I see this as an endurance challenge.

It felt like we were never sleeping, but it was fun because someone was always online, and we had this ICONICONICON feeling going on.
So much this! I felt that the core group of us bonded so much over that time period. I don't want to do it that intensely again, but I loved that aspect of the challenge.

In their defense, 9:45 isn't terribly late; it's just that I expected to put them in bed at 8:30 and have an hour to myself. Mustering up enthusiasm my 14th hour into childcare is really hard!

We'll see. So far, so good. :)

I did. Two people made over 300 icons. In less than a week!

I'm paranoid. Did you get my comment on your episode review post from Obsession? I know I don't comment much anymore, but I did that time. :) If you just haven't had the time to respond, that's fine. As I said, I was just a little paranoid.

Oh, and I was debating about reading your review for the latest episode to see if it was worth watching, but couldn't bring myself to completely spoil it like that. As I have you here, would you mind giving me a brief opinion? Did it suck? Were they able to carry it off decently? Should I watch it soon, or can I finish watching other finales first?

I did, sorry. I've just been tied up (not literally) with the NCIS Awards and trying to drum up enthusiasm and trying to persuade people to nominated. It's just been time.

In truth? Watch the other finales first. The last eight/ten minutes was great, other than that . . . My opinion? SB should have made it and the final episode one, rather than stretch it into two. Basically in short nothing really went forward.

Have you seen Grey's finale? We watched it last night . . . I will say no more at this point.

Honestly? Babysitting in the evenings after working always feels late, so I'm a bad judge of that. (Then again, I also tend to feel guilty when I babysit on a Saturday night and get paid for reading for a couple of hours, after putting the kids to bed.)

I know. reallyally, who commented above, was one of those crazy suckers. carpenyx, who is on the current team of mine that is doing this, is the other one. (And I can't wait to see her reaction that it is happening again!) We ended up with 7 people who made over 100 icons, which I think is pretty good. As a team we made almost 1800 icons in total ( ... )
