Hey -- flew here from the Tony+Kate community.

I'm wondering if that was all a hallucination or something...
And I'm also wondering if Sasha was fired or just wanted to leave.

I really, REALLY hate this. I guess in September we'll find out what happened.

Until then I'm gonna just sit here and try not to think about it.

Unfortunately, DPB has gone on record more than once saying that the death was final and that the repercussions will be felt next season. As much as I would love for it all to be a drug/plague induced dream on Tony's part, I can't see Bellisario doing it. I know it's probably a knee-jerk reaction, but I don't think I'll be hanging out in September to find out what the fallout is. As far as Sasha wanting to leave, I could possibly have dealt with Kate's death if that were the reason, but I have read in multiple sources (TV Guide for one) that none of the actors wanted to leave. The death was for story (?!?!?!) purposes only.

hello i flew in from an ncis community too. your ventation was very well put and i would like nothing more than to staple it to DB's forehead. with permanent staples. that hurt.

wow. who knows being incredibly upset over losing a favorite character could make me so violent? *goes off to hunt down some DB*

Go ahead! I'm not sure it's all that wonderful, because it was just my knee-jerk initial reaction, but feel free to spread the incoherent rage!

I second the stapler idea. Shannon said to fuck him, the horse he rode in on, and the little girl that gave it apples. Beka said to give him herpes. Those ideas work for me as well. The thing that gets me most is that in the videos on the CBS site, he just seems so damn smug about it all. Argh!!!

I guess I can get violent as well, who knew?

By the way, I like your icon. Happier times, huh? I guess in honor of that I'll use a happier times NCIS icon as well...

Oh, no. That sucks. I sympathize with losing favorite (and main!) characters (see 24 and last Sunday's Desperate Housewives finale..meh) But hey, I'm still interested in the S1 dvds..*g*

I wish there were season 1 DVDs, but considering there aren't any DVD's yet for any of JAG's ten seasons, I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon. I would like to rewatch those episodes; the majority of them were really good. Season two wasn't very consistent, but there were some stellar episodes in it anyway.

I know you can sympathize with losing characters. And the thing is? I'm okay with losing characters sometimes. I mean, I just got done watching the LFN episode in which Maddie offed herself, and I liked it. And, actually, there were tons of deaths of characters I rather cared about in that show, and it didn't make me hate it. Instead, it added to the ambiance of the show. But that is the difference, right there...ambiance. LFN was an angsty show from the start. You know that when the main character is told in the first few minutes of the show that she could be tortured or killed at any time that you are not in for a fluffy story. NCIS is different, however. It was one of my two comic relief shows. I knew that ( ... )

What? But I want to catch up on NCIS! *whine*

I agree it definitely has to keep with the tone of the show, even if I get really pissed off when my characters die (see: Nina's useless death. Sherry's WTF death by a crazy Julia Miliken, of all people). Teri's death in the S1 finale however, was just brilliant. I wasn't that attached to her, but even if I was I recognize its value for storytelling purpose.

Throwing in this death is just so out of place.
I've only seen one episode, but I can see how that must irritate. Especially since there are other options if Sascha wanted to leave the show. I hope it doesn't lose its humour, since that looks like one of the best aspects of NCIS.

I think that eps are available for download. I know that people mentioned it on one of the Yahoo lists that I was on. I haven't investigated it fully, but I think the option is out there.

Is it bad to say that I loved Teri's death when I'm bitching about the death of a character on another television show? Yeah, I thought so, but I'm saying it anyway. I wouldn't expect less from the masterminds of LFN, but that death (especially after everything seemed resolved) just shocked the heck out of me. But it fit with the tone of the show. I'm all for twists that fit with the history/complexion of a show. If there weren't changes, then it risks becoming predictable.

I hope it doesn't lose its humour, since that looks like one of the best aspects of NCIS.
It is the best aspect of the show in my opinion, especially when it stems from the character interaction. The show's characters aren't very complex (well, except for Ari, and they decided to change him from a fascinating, complex character to a stereotype last episode!), but they are ( ... )

Sorry I came here from the tony_kate community. I haven't even seen the episode and I feel sick to my stomach about it. Don't loose all faith yet. I am angered, Kate was my favourite character, but so much can change in television. If it was her choice to leave, than i guess this was the only plausable way!

See? I don't buy this. I was fine with them killing off Speed on CSI: Miami when the actor wanted out because that was consistent with the tone of the show. With this show, I watch it for humor and the characters, so I don't want angst and a death. If the actress wanted to leave they could have had Kate transfer or go undercover or elope and move away! Anything except for kill her. And then, the way that they killed her? I loved the character of Ari as seen in "Reveille". He was complex and fascinating. I don't know how they can reconcile the events of that episode with the events of this episode. I really hate it when shows screw up continuity; it's definitely one of my pet peeves. Now that I know it was the actress's decision to leave, I might give NCIS a couple of episodes in the fall to see how they plan on dealing with it, but if they stay true to what they are saying now and keep it darker, I'm gone. I don't need another CSI or 24, thank you ( ... )

I think that is how on the most part, most fans a feeling: a feeling their beloved show will loose its humour. I don't want NCIS to go to the dark side of drama either, but DPB obviously did what he did for a reason, but I am hoping it wasn't a ploy to attract more viewers in the 18-49 key demographic.

Considering I am a member of the 18-49 key demographic, as are a lot of the people I have talked to about this, and we're all disgruntled, if he is doing it to attract those viewers, it might just backfire on him. Maybe he wants to get darker so he can be more pretentious about it? I have no clue, but I don't like the sound of it. These characters haven't been written as complex enough, and the stories aren't good enough, for this show to survive without its humor.
