[Bzzzt! There's a muffled yelp and then a grumble of annoyance.]Oh, dear. I suppose I should take better care of this device, I'm afraid I haven't been paying it the attention it apparently needs. I've been reading so much lately, though, that I didn't keep up with it. Now, let me see, can I-- oh, no, that can't have been the right button... was it ( Read more... )

Oh, he got sent back home a few weeks ago. It's nothing big.

I suppose it depends on the person reading said novels, my dear.

Well, it's good that they're safe now, right?

I guess so. If I had to pick a favorite, uhm... I guess I'd have to choose a book called Uglies. It's not really that big, but it's really interesting.

Ah, yes. Well, Crowley can take care of himself.

I haven't heard of that. What is it on?

I don't get much time to read fiction. I guess I'll have more free time here.

Ah, yes, I do believe you will. I suggest you take the opportunity.

Are there a lot of books around here? Doesn't seem like there would be.

We have a small library in the school. I believe a certain Miss Albarn made a book club. The selection leaves to be desired, but one can't complain, under the circumstances.

I'm partial to the plays of Shakespeare, as cliche as that may be. Stendhal and Dumas deserve a mention too, as do... some of the works of Hermann Hesse.

Ah, yes. Hesse. Quite the troubled man, but his books are very interesting.

I'm not sure why enjoying Shakespeare is a cliche, my dear boy. There's a reason they're so universally enjoyed, after all.

I've found that many tend to list him as a favorite merely in order to look more well-read than they really are, and only because they can think of no other respected authors. It's a shame.

Ah, as such. Yes, rather depressing, such things, aren't they?

I've always been fond of Le Petit Prince, by Antoine De Saint-Exupery.

A delightful book, surely deserving of the status it has. It's remarkable how the author made it into both a children's and an adult's book, isn't it? Rather like Mr Wilde, in that aspect.

That was one of my favorite things about it, really -- I first read it as a child, but I find myself able to take more from it as I get older, rather than less.

His other works are definitely worth the try as well, if you ever get the chance. I don't believe we have any in the local library, but perhaps it's something to remember when you go back to your home.
