E-essay!
Okay, so, um, essay on Duo being in camp and stuff. I really want to do one on the whole Shinigami persona, too, but since I can't seem to coherently organise my thoughts on that one, it'll have to come later ^^

I decided to app Duo from around the time he's chillin' with Hilde in space and ambushing enemy soldiers to steal their MS parts. So he's got the Deathscythe Hell, he's flown Zero, and meanwhile, the Gundam verse has snowballed to the point that everyone is trying to kill everyone else and political alliances are about as clear and set as the average camper's sexuality. Or, in other words, there's OZ, the Romefeller Foundation, the Treize Faction, White Fang, and remnants of the Alliance. And then the Gundam kids.

I played Duo as boggling over some camp stuff when he first got here, but over all pretty laid back. This is mostly because he just didn't believe what people were telling him. Someone would say "YEAH THERE'S A PSYCHO BARRIER YOU CAN NEVER ESCAPE THROUGH" and he'd pretty much nod and smile and say "yeah sure okay psycho". Then he learned that it was all true. Ohohoho. But the biggest thing for him was the whole multi-universe thing. The idea that there's no wars or OZ or what have you here, and most of the people he's talked to have never heard of that. So it's unsettling, in a way, that he doesn't have to fight or keep his guard up or whatever. He doesn't really know what to make of it ^^

SO, what's a hot young Gundam pilot to do when there are no Gundams to pilot? Mostly mill around. He snoops around the barrier and whatnot offscreen, because he and Heero need to get home, seeing as... uh, there's important stuff going on there. But without anyone to blow up, he ends up doing a lot of talking with people -- which is strange, because he's someone who actually puts a lot of distance between himself and others emotionally, but will get attached to them. Does that make sense? No? Oh well carry on.
So, notably: there's Heero at camp, who's actually kinda important because it makes you feel less crazy if you're in the middle of crack zombie camp yet there's someone familiar and therefore stabilizing. Plus it's nice to have someone to conspire with, even if we do it poorly and obviously. Other noteworthies: the SEED characters. Because they're interesting -- Duo is pretty caught up in this idea that there are alternate universes, yet one so similar to his own, yet somehow still different.

...Well technically Heero and Duo are. Of course, because they're pretty the series protagonists, they're not really portrayed that way. But the point is that in GW canon, Operation Meteor and the whole being a Gundam pilot is supposed to be a big secret. Not as much later in the series, since everyone seems to know about them anyway, but Duo wouldn't go around announcing what he does in his world or anything, and letting detailed info on the Gundams get out? No way. Which is why I need to address yesterday's mobile suit battle, I think. So there was a glitch and Deathscythe Hell and Zero were in the simulators' systems. What basically went through Duo's head for that was OH SHIT followed by WTF followed by WELL THEY'RE THERE ANYWAY THE ZAFTIES CAN PLAINLY SEE AND PROBABLY ASSUME THEY'RE FROM MY WORLD so he decided to load and use it for the time being. To him, given that these guys are from a different world, admitting that you're familiar with the suit because it's from your world isn't cause to explode everything, although it is giving away more than he would've liked. After that was the follow-up with Heero where they made sure that the sims wouldn't have detailed specs on their Gundams -- which as far as they could tell, they didn't, so it's an uneasy 'okay fine' situation. If the sims ever did have info available on the Gundams... well, uh, yeah... |D [LOLZ SELF-DESTRUCTION GOES HERE]
Would he ever tell anyone? Probably wouldn't volunteer the info ever, really.
