Hmm. I am a too-nerdy-for-my-own-good high school girl, the geeks I hang out with would dismiss SPN as "not SF enough", and everyone else would love it for the action or the guys or both ;D I'm not really in a zone where English is the first language, so SPN would never be used as a teaching aid (esp. because of the themes - conservative country), but perhaps you could teach characterisation-via-subtext? Maybe asking the students what the Winchesters' actions in public say about themselves? (Cuz slutty!Dean and masochistic!Sam are all about Teh Woobie ;)) Just mein suggestion :P
