Hello! I'm pretty great! No major life events to report here, but I kind of like it that way! Upheaval is not my style. ;)
Berlin! Is it nice, do you like it? I SHOULD visit. I have never left North America, you know? But now I have disposable income, and if I'm not so much of an LJ fail I can even have people to visit in Europe. ;)
A raise and an exit from academia sound excellent. \o/
A PhD is quite a bit! Also KITTIES. If I had space I'd get more. I think fostering would be v. dangerous to my feelings.
Ohhhh, music! Yes, I am listening to lots of things! Many of my old favs have new albums out recently. Metric just put one out, and Lana Del Rey, and Rah Rah. Half Moon Run is also (finally!) making a new album, come October. My beloved Hey Rosetta! had a new album at the end of last year... I went to Osheaga in August (yooooooooge music fest in Montreal) and really liked Alt-J's show, and their album.
Here is a (slowly uploading) selection of stuff from my favourites list. Check it out! Mostly pretty chill listening, with a couple exceptions. Coeur De Pirate is a particular favourite right now, check her out!
We could TOTALLY meet up! I'm about an hour's bus ride outside T.O. proper, so weekend would be best for me, but we could hang for sure!
So many people coming to check in on LJ these past few weeks. I could get all nostalgic. Twitter is just not the same.
I don't post here anymore (not like I had posted much back in the day ;)), but I come and check once a week or maybe every two weeks to catch up with the few people who are still here.
If you guys actually are coming back, maybe I will check again more regularly. We will see.
Life has been good and bad to me. Still work at the same company but we grew quite a bit in the past 3 years, which makes things a bit more stressy for me. Dated and broke up with a guy. Got sick and better again.
Right now live is on the good side. If we don't count the football part at least. ;)
Hey there, it's good to see you! Three years, hmm. I broke up with my boyfriend, moved to another city, got a steady job teaching at a university, have been in unrequited love for over two years, fell out of fandom (kind of), kept being active in my environmentalist organization, started being active in my local anarchosyndicalist labor union. I think that's it?
How is teaching? I saw a job posting a little while ago for a teaching lab manger position at a nearby uni and considered throwing my hat at it. Didn't end up doing it though. I don't think it'd like lecturing at all, but a lab could be cool, I think.
I've been working and puttering and cooking and going to concerts and basically doing the same things I always have, lol. I change my life but slowly; upheaval does not suit me. ;)

I started a PhD and I am in the tall grass. Some day I will find a lawnmower.

I am well! See above comments for further tidings. How's life out of the weeds?

I miss your music posts. Are you listening to anything good lately?
Also, hey, are you still in the GTA? I'm going to Toronto for a research trip next month. We could meet up maybe?

Ha, it's not that upheaval suits me (I'm a creature of habit really), more that it was forced upon me.
