Talking about your loony teacher is interesting to me. Besides, everyone has had weird experiences with various teachers, and they'll be able to share their anecdotes and opinions as well. Hey, that sounds like a conversation!
Sometimes when I'm getting together with someone I'm just beginning to know, I try to have some *thing* we're doing, because it takes the pressure off talking, a little. So I'll go for walks with people, because then we can spend time just looking at stuff and talking about what we see.
You can just share random thoughts that go through your head. I do that sometimes. It doesn't have to be an opinion. It could be an "I wonder" or "Why do you suppose" or whatever.
Unfortunately, my random thoughts are usually self-conscious awareness issues which aren't good for sharing :/ But, if I do get a flash, other than that, It's hard to share because I get stuck in listen mode, and my mouth just doesn't open...
My teacher sent out an e-mail to everyone requesting students treat her respectfully (it's an online class so there's no conversation with the other students outside of the classroom), so that gives me an idea that I'm not the only one who has some issues with her!
In my opinion, you speak more to me than 90% of the people that I have ever met. But you speak to me through your visual works of art. I can, and have, gazed upon drawings, paintings and photographs of yours for five to ten minutes over the course of the last few years. Each time I meditate upon your art, they speak to me. Perhaps they tell me a little about you and a lot about myself, but they speak to me nevertheless. In the past I've gone through your flickr account and just go through the photographs that you take of places and people. I don't know these people and am likely never to meet them. But it’s the way in which you take the pictures, the way you perceive the world around you, the way you frame the world, which is very interesting to me. You have gifted me with two prints of yours which we hang in our home and which I love. So, you may be an introvert, but you have always spoken volumes to me
( ... )
Thanks, Helios, I really appreciate your words of encouragement. It's nice to know all that!
And it's really cool you used my print for your icon :))
I do have to add though, that the people I know in RL, are not into art, and will never look at my flickr pics, you know. To have a relationship with the average joe, requires conversation. :/
If you asked inquisitivelove about me socializing with people, she would tell you what she tells everyone: Fred doesn't talk to people. My wife is the extroverted one. Everyone who I have initially met in RL are people who I have known at least 9 or 10 years and I can count all of them on my hands with fingers to spare. :) So, I guess we are cut from the same cloth.
You know, one thing I always liked about you was that you speak your mind. I never thought of you as someone who doesn't have opinions. Maybe you're not good at small talk, but so what ? I'm not good at small talk usually and I've decided that that's okay. It's okay. My friends end up being people who aren't good at small talk either, and that makes me happy !

How do the other students feel about the teacher?
