How long have you been doing yoga? And meditation?
It's something I've been considering.... along with all my other ideas of being physically fit and taking the time to separate myself and sort out the brain. I just need to motivate myself to start.
Oh, yeah. Did you know there's a traditional (Theravada sect) Buddhist wat in Keller? The grounds are absolutely beautiful. It is literally like stepping into Thailand, as the construction is very traditional. The actual wat itself is truly a work of art.
The monks there offer classes on meditation. I think they have cooking classes, too... Anyway, next time there's a festival, I'll let you know. Of course, they always welcome guests at any fairly reasonable hour from early in the morning to about 9pm-ish, I think.
It is really awesome. I'm not Buddhist, but I can definitely appreciate the beauty and peace that can be found there on those grounds. If you ever want to even just "drop by," their address is:
Wat Buddharatanaram 13075 Sehapayak Rd Keller TX 76244 (817)430-1365
It's pretty easy to get there from Denton, as it's just off of 377 (Fort Worth Drive). Just hop on that and head south for a bit, past 1171, past 114, past (I think) a little highway called 170.
If it's daylight you will be able to see the wat from 377 just over the treeline, set in about two hundred yards. Turn right on Keller-Haslet Road, and then right on a very narrow street called Sehapayak Road. Voila!
