“Don’t forget to use the ‘heads I win, tails you lose’ argument. If the thing he prays for doesn’t happen, then that is one more proof that petitionary prayers don’t work; if it does happen, he will, of course, be able to see some of the physical causes which led up to it and ‘therefore it would have happened anyway’, and thus a granted prayer ( Read more... )

Ooh! Pretty. I hope you have a splendid evening, the both of you. The play looks excellent - the Screwtape looks like he will really catch the flavor that character. Have fun:)

Thank you for your kind wishes. It was a wonderful evening and the actor captured the evil and perversity of hell very well. He acted Screwtape as somewhat alluring and polished in the beginning of the play and enraged and sadistic by the end. It was very thoughtfully done. At the end of the play, the audience was silent due to the profundity of the subject matter. When the lights came back on he got a resounding applause.

Very glad to hear that the evening went well:)

The play sounded both enjoyable and intelligent fare. The very best kind. Take care.

I cannot wait to hear all about the play and going to dinner! The restaurant looks like it will be such fun.;)
Thank you for posting the pictures of you attire for the evening! I love the dress and how retro the whole outfit is.:) Where did you find the jewelry?

It was a wonderful evening! Our restaurant was fantastic. We were seated in one of the booths, which was our preference. They were velvet lined, cozy, and softly illuminated. Our waiter was wonderful. He was attentive but not fawning, and was informative regarding the menu, the restaurant, and Walnut Creek. And I found out his family is, like mine, from Greece. So, that created a feeling of camaraderie that added to the joy of the evening. I ordered duck and my husband ordered blue Dungeness crab, which neither one of us had ever had, but was delicious. We ordered lemon tart for dessert and listened to the piano player sing and play songs from the 40’s and 50’s. It was delightful. Our waiter informed us that Bing Crosby’s widow, Kathryn, who was an actress and singer in the 50’s, sometimes performs at the restaurant during the Christmas season. I don’t really know who she is, but thought that might make for a fun evening. After dinner, we drove to the theater only to discover that the parking garage, located next to the theater, was ( ... )

Oh, I forgot to mention where I got my jewelry. The earrings are a pair of 1950’s Aurora Borealis or AB crystal clip on earrings. You can find them in many colors: pink, lavender, black, etc. but mostly clear crystal. I bought the pink pair on ebay for about $20.00 but I have a crystal pair that I paid (if I remember correctly) about $6.00 for. The pin is also a 1950’s vintage piece that I purchased on ebay. I think it cost me about $9.00. My mother gave me the bracelet, which is also a 1950’s vintage piece but my mom said she paid about $40.00 or $50.00 for it. However, she purchased it at an antique store where they often over charge. When I am searching on ebay, I tend to do a broad search like: vintage pink earrings. Of course, people will often post new items under vintage but, most often, you can tell which ones are the older pieces and which are the newer. One jewelry designer whose items I love to look at but have yet to purchase, because I can never find any that I like in my meager price range, and her bigger pieces can go ( ... )
