My husband sent me this youtube clip the other day of five little girls singing the “Star Spangled Banner” before a basketball game in Texas. Apprarently, at the time of the performance (in 2007, I believe) the girls ranged in age from 8-13 and are called the Cactus Cuties. I was so impressed with their performance that I thought I’d share...

Wait...you mean it's "Oh, say, can you see...". But I learned from the movie Major League that it was "Jose, can you see" and that it was about a Hispanic guy! :-)

Seriously, that was a very good video

And while I vaguely remembered some of the details of the origin of the song, it was nice to have my memory refreshed.

I can't see the video until I get home, but thank you for sharing this piece of forgotten history. I know it was taught to me a long time ago as I recalled parts I was reading. It would be a shame if this didn't meet the American History requirements in school now? I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. :-/

Still...most seem to know the first verse to it at baseball games. ;D
