Bumping into Souji isn't such an improbable thing; the boy keeps on the move fairly regularly. He isn't fond of the idea of reprising the role of amateur investigator, but there just isn't a whole lot else to do in this dead, empty city, and a guy can only fold so many paper cranes before he starts to go a little buggy in the thinkpan.

So he's out wandering the city streets again, looking for things that might be interesting, or things that might prove to be clues - pieces of the perpetual puzzle of Meridian. When he does happen to cross paths with Terezi, he gives her a cursory glance but doesn't recognize her, at first.

Inspector Mistyhair isn't Terezi's favorite human, but she'd admit that he's got something at least moderately interesting about him. At the very least he's totally weirded out by her, and that's good enough for her.

Oblivious, though. From what she can smell of her reflection the only thing that's changed is her skin and her teeth, and the lack of the horns. She's still wearing her regular clothes, even! Ten points from Troll Hufflepuff for being an unperceptive hoofbeast ass.

"You are a very bad detective, Inspector!"

Souji's not the most observant guy; this is true. Even when he was actively investigating, it was mostly a team effort, with observations from his friends largely helping to fill in the blanks.

But there's only one person in Meridian who calls him "Inspector," so that's a huge clue-by-four bonking him over the head. And, now that he's come to a stop, he can see from the clothing it's very obviously Terezi, only ... out of her cosplay? The makeup and prosthetics (as he assumes the horns and pointy teeth are) had been such a large visual signifier for the troll girl before; someone who's not terribly observant could easily overlook a normal-looking human girl with sunglasses and mostly-nondescript clothing.

"It's my day off," he deadpans in response.
