[B wasn't aware there was a meeting scheduled, but he happened to wander by anyway. The request is a curious one, though small in its curiosity in comparison with the city itself. B shuffles forward, nibbling at the tip of his thumb.]
How will you get the materials to the west side of the city? [There's a huge wall impeding traffic, after all.]
Raf has been hanging out near the centre of the city pretty much since he got here, so when he notices a group gathering he joins them in hopes of finding something out. He hears Colby's introduction, but it doesn't seem like there's much to say back to it, at least not immediately.
Raf looks at the person who asks the question, not so much like he knows more than anyone else. He knows that he really doesn't. But he does think he knows this, or at least the how of the answer, even if he's nowhere near knowing the why.
"I believe some people perceive and interact with things as if there were bridges where we perceive that wall."
Raf shrugs, he's not sure he likes the idea of restoring a hospital that he can't even get to, but his other plans are wandering randomly and talking to other people, and Tiri says that those are really poor plans. Not that Tiri's suggested any kind of alternative, but one is suggesting itself now, so Raf nods.
If you see a wall, find someone who can't see it. It's a good life lesson - make connections, make contacts. You guys get taught business practices where you're from, right?
[Seriously what kind of shitty worlds don't teach that stuff?]
oh the mix of prose and action XDmeddlefussyfangSeptember 23 2011, 07:12:47 UTC
Do you both mean to say that you encountered a wall near the center of the city? It is simply a ravine with a river running through, and bridges spanning it.
[Does that mean the surprise wall that Gamzee encountered was this one?]
And I'll make it worse.negcapabilitySeptember 24 2011, 03:21:18 UTC
Raf couldn't care much at all about business practices, he's never planned on being a businessman and that doesn't seem like it's going to change just because he's out of prison.
Raf shrugs, considering the creature with a vaguely interested glance for a second, before his face goes into indifference.
"It appears that some people perceive a wall, which blocks us from passing and blocks sight, but doesn't seem to affect sound, where others, like you, can see a river and bridges."
"If you're not doing anything, would you mind carrying things over the bridges? As I'm physically incapable of doing that step." Raf lets a half-smile curve his lips.
[Raf looks at the boy curiously, his eyebrows furrowed.]
You see the bridges, but you can't get across them?
[Then he looks at the gray-skinned and be-horned person-ish, the one that he hasn't met yet. He guesses he doesn't have to bring Karkat up to her, since here the creature is. Raf could argue that he isn't crazy, but that's always been a waste of his time (and Raf's not sure that it's true), so instead he shrugs and says back quite cheerfully:]
[It's nice to have it observed that the wall is in the same place for the other person as for him, and Raf supports the location giving by leaning up against the wall.]
And it runs as far as I can see in both directions.
I really don't see it. The solidity is particularly astonishing, would you be able to lean against it...?
[Her question is largely rhetorical, as she turns her attention to the business-obsessed local. No doubt his typing quirk would involve turning S into $.]
You're not surprised that only some of us perceive a wall.
[B's happy to demonstrate the wall's existence, so he extends his arm and leans into the wall, carefully observing the reaction from the rest of the crowd.]

"I'll help."

Of course. Business practices are essential skills for businesspeople, after all.

I can show you where the supplies are, but I can't get across the bridges. You'll have to do that on your own, unfortunately.
[He spreads his hands in a wide gesture and shrugs. Not his fault, man.]

I was already intending to do so. It isn't a problem. But hopefully I'll encounter a few of the others who know there isn't a wall.

Looks like you will.

That's at least two of us then. Gamzee made some strange remark, he might be perceiving the same boundary.
[She nods, glancing around at the rest of the group.]
You really see a wall? Are you willing to indicate to me where?

[Raf shrugs.]
I haven't headed for either end, though, yet.
