[Souji's so startled he ends up accidentally hopping to the second level.]

Ah ... hello?

[He hasn't quite mastered the mechanics of the second level yet, but he does remember when he first arrived, he was able to hear a voice in this manner.]

You're in a city called Meridian.

[there's a reassuring feeling; Charles seems to want to keep him calm.]

Thank you, my friend. But how have I come to be here?

[The calming feeling is nice, if a little odd. Souji doesn't mind.]

According to the one person who claims to know, the city itself brought you here. [Some skepticism lingering behind his words, yes. But it's the best answer he's been able to uncover thusfar, so.] Most everyone seems to be here under similar circumstances.

The city itself, hm?

[he thinks on this for a second, putting his hands in his pockets and staring down at his shoes.]

It's quite a little trip, even for a telepath. I can hear the others, too. Can everyone do that, here?

Mm. [He nods.] As long as you're here that seems to be the case. But I don't think it's telepathy, exactly. [Though as far as what it is exactly, Souji's still a bit at a loss.] Maybe something like ... another dimension? [A brief picture flickers to the front of Souji's mind - bright light, a yellow platform, fog, a stack of old televisions, a crowd of a half-dozen other teens and something that looks like it could be a bear mascot suit. There's recognition, a sense of familiarity about that place and this one, then a sudden, heavy wave of guilt, and an abrupt conscious move to quash the tableau.] But ... something that sounds less silly, I guess.
