[Souji's out exploring, too. The bridges are a curiosity; after that conversation with Gamzee, he's taken to studying this area in particular, walking back and forth across the bridges and watching other people as they cross over - or don't, as the case may be.

This guy looks like he could maybe use a little help, so Souji approaches.]

Excuse me ... are you lost?

[Erik looks up, slightly suspicious. A boy... but that doesn't mean anything, especially if he's a mutant.]

Somewhat. What city is this?

[How can you be suspicious of Souji, he's the most nonthreatening person ever. .__.]

It's called Meridian, sir.

[He is suspicious of everyone, don't take it personally.]

Meridian? What country?

[That's a good question, actually. He hadn't yet been able to wheedle that information out of anyone, or glean it from the city itself.]

I don't think anyone knows for sure.

[... Now that's very suspicious.]

Really.

[A few screws and nails start to rise off the street, swirling around a bit.]

I find that unlikely.

[An illusion? Was this that girl's work?]

[O ... K, that's a little weird, and a bit unnerving. Souji raises his eyebrows and fights the urge to take a step backward.]

I've been here for a few weeks. I've been searching for answers to questions such as that one, without much luck. It isn't Japan, at least - I'm pretty sure about that.

[He bites back an urge to make an extremely rude comment - it's been years, he doesn't have to make those kinds comments about Japan anymore. Besides, he's a child - he likely wasn't even alive then.]

Are you from Japan, then?

[Was he speaking English? Souji hadn't even really thought about it, to be honest.]

Ah ... thank you, sir. We studied English in school.

Really? They teach English there? ... I suppose after the war, it makes sense.

[With the occupation and the aftermath... hm. He might have to make a trip there. More radiation might lead to more mutation, and all...]

["The war" ... ? Oh. Right. That war.]

I guess I hadn't thought much about it, except that it's important to be able to speak with others. [This is a given, and Souji naturally accepts it.]

That it is.

... How old are you? You seem rather sharp for your age.

Seventeen, sir. I'm supposed to be starting my third year of high school ... I guess that's not happening, since I'm here instead.

[He nods. That's... well, he thinks that's around the age of some of Charles' charges.]

What's your name?
