Rating: PG?
Summary: Terezi tries to clear the air between them.
Once upon a time Terezi had thought it was pretty funny the way Karkat tried to avoid talking about his feelings. His nubby-horned rage was just adorable, and she'd poked and prodded and played with it like her favorite scalemate, amusing herself with how obvious all his various insecurities seemed to be. That was before he started being an insensitive, jealous jerk about it. Before things had gone wrong.
Looking back on it she wasn't even sure what, exactly, had soured things. Surely it just couldn't be the humans? Had Dave really been such a big deal? But it was clear that somewhere whatever the thing between them had been- besides complicated- had gotten all tangled up, and she'd been too busy helping Dave to realize something was wrong until it was too late. She hadn't even realized the extent of the damage until she'd talked to him here. How had they drifted that far apart?
But now they were stuck here. Maybe they wouldn't ever go back to what that thing had been, and that was fine. It didn't always work. But she couldn't see a way out of their situation, and if they couldn't talk or interact and get anything done without this hanging over them, then she could see that it would come back to haunt them later.
It wasn't hard to track him down, following the bright cherry scent under dirty pavement. Even though there was a lot of dirty pavement around them these days.
