CHARACTER INFO
Name: Beyond Birthday [aliases: B, Backup, Rue Ryuzaki, etc. - thinks of himself as B; usually introduces himself as Ryuzaki]]
Age: Never specified in canon; estimated around 20 years.
Species: Human, with minor shinigami traits.

Series: Death Note - Another Note [spinoff novel detailing events referenced in both the manga and anime versions of Death Note]
OU/AU: OU
Canon Point: August 22, 2002, just after parting ways with Naomi Misora to begin the “stakeout.”

History: There are articles at both Wikipedia and the Death Note Wiki, but neither is terribly complete or accurate; my own canon history write-up follows:

There are not many specific facts known about Beyond Birthday from the text of Another Note before the events of the story in question. What is known, however, is that both of his parents were ( ... )

Beyond Birthday || Death Note || OU || Reserved || Part 2 aircrash August 7 2011, 02:54:52 UTC
The serial murders attracted L’s attention, just as B intended, and L enlisted the assistance of a suspended FBI agent named Naomi Misora in investigating the murders. B approached Naomi at the scene of the first murder, introducing himself as an “unprivate detective” named Rue Ryuzaki who had been hired by the murder victims’ families to investigate the murder, independent of the police. Under the guise of cooperative investigation, B skillfully led Naomi through the obscure clues he’d left behind at the scene of each murder, pointing to the location of the fourth and final murder. B’s intent at the final scene was to commit suicide by setting himself on fire after setting it up to look like another murder, and thus leave L with a puzzle he could never solve. This, in B’s mind, would prove that he was better than L. Naomi, however, was able to piece together the final clues and determine Ryuzaki’s identity as the killer, B, and place him under arrest before he was able to succeed in his suicide plot, though not before B was able to ( ... )

Powers: Through the Wammy’s House program, B received extensive training in the investigative arts. He is adept at problem-solving, creative thinking, and logical reasoning, as evident in his prowess for both creating and solving puzzles, particularly crossword puzzles. B is an expert speed-reader, speaks both English and Japanese fluently, and demonstrates high proficiency in mathematics. Although it is not stated in the text of Another Note, it is likely B is also proficient in a number of additional languages and highly skilled in various types of computer work, including programming and hacking ( ... )

B’s greatest personality weakness is shortsightedness with respect to his obsessiveness; his eventual downfall is caused by the fact that he became so fixated on one thing - beating L - that he failed to consider anything else. For example, B underestimated Naomi Misora’s deductive abilities, and she was able to solve the mystery of his identity as the killer behind the series of murders and apprehend B before he was able to set the final stage of his murder plan into motion. B’s skewed world view is also something of weakness - though he is not prone to outbursts or displays of action not thoroughly calculated, B is still somewhat emotionally unstable, especially considering that the end result of the series of murders was intended to be a rather gruesome suicide ( ... )

SPOILER ALERT

History: To understand Akito's background, first you must explore his mother's. Gazelle was a Brain Charger, the first in fact. In a world of Air Treck, motorised rollerblades with two wheels that were able to make you 'fly', Gazelle was given 'wings'. She was known as the Wings of Beginning, the first to be able to fly on AT and truly want to. Her talents on Air Treck earned her the title of Thorn Queen, one of the eight best riders, the Kings and Queens of the AT world. However, her wings were sought after by the Gravity Children. Whereas Gazelle's wings were given to her, Gravity Children were created to be the same. However they lacked the desire to truly fly. So Gazelle was wanted by the two most powerful, Sora and Nick Takeuchi. Gazelle ran from them, and along the way met Kaito Wanijima. The two fell in love, but it wasn't to last. Gazelle tired of running and in a final act, committed suicide while in the freezing waters of the Arctic ( ... )

Personality: This actually varies incredibly depending on who you’re talking about. I’ll make a note here that the eyepatch the boy wears dictates which of the personalities you happen to be talking to. Left eye is Akito; right eye (with freaky slit pupil) is Agito. They often switch between each other with often no warning at all. The two are very aware of each other, to the point that Akito considers Agito to be another actual person rather than a personality ( ... )

Powers:

'Mundane' powers first! Yomiel is good at manipulating people with words - he can figure out what they want to hear and make a good-sounding deal with them. He's got a sharp mind, and uses it to program computers - he's not going to be that happy about Meridian having none of those.

Through the powers of Temsik radiation, Yomiel has a number of supernatural abilities. As he says, the radiation gives ghosts 'power' and 'time'.

Time: Yomiel does not age, as long as the meteor is embedded in him. If shot or otherwise injured, his body reverts back to how it was at the moment of death, effectively making him immortal.

Power: Yomiel can possess both things and people. He can possess and manipulate objects (even more than one at a time) over a fairly long range. He can also take over humans (or animals) and force them to do things they wouldn't normally do. People with a strong will can partly resist this.

He can also travel through phone lines, but… this isn't really relevant in Meridian.

Weaknesses:If the fragment of the ( ... )

CHARACTER INFO
Name: Alice Liddell
Age: 19
Species: Human

Series: American McGee's Alice / Alice: Madness Returns ( the original game and the sequel, respectively. )
OU/AU: OU
Canon Point: After the second game's ending.
History: over at the wiki.

Personality: There's one thing that must be first and foremost said about Alice, since it's practically something you can't deny while playing through the games. Alice is crazy. Quite literally, too - she has spent several years stuck in an asylum after her house (and the rest of her family still in it) burned down. The incident in which her family died and her years in the asylum combined were enough to literally make the little girl go insane. Of course, Alice has always been somewhat prone to wandering off into her own world; anyone who has read the Alice in Wonderland and Beyond the ( ... )

Because she speaks her mind a lot, it's easy to guess her opinion about people. She doesn't speak positively about people unless she really does like them or consider them a friend. Even the Caterpillar, who helps her out pretty often, is often somewhat trashtalked by her. ('I remember him well. Thin-skinned. Ill-tempered. Smokes too much. Disagreeable smell. Why do I need him?') You really have to earn respect with Alice before she will give you that respect in her conversations with you. She also doesn't particularly seem to like relying on other people a lot or having to follow someone else's lead - she complains about the unseen oracle in the cave of oracles when it tells her what she has to do to defeat the Red Queen. ('Obscure allusions to chess are fine, but it troubles me that anonymous oracles know more of my business than I do.' And then, later on: 'It talks like I'm on holiday, Cat. Wandering about, having a bit of fun. The oracle's an idiot ( ... )

All of that being said, Alice might be cynical, rude and violent, but she is not uncaring. She seems to be at least somewhat friendly towards the people she genuinely likes and cares for them a lot, like the Cheshire Cat and the White Rabbit. She's sometimes a little bit teasing in her friendliness though. (To the Cheshire Cat: 'And if not, there may be more than one way to skin a cat, if you'll pardon the expression.') She also seems sympathic to some other people she doesn't know as well, like the insane children in the Dollhouse part of the second game. Perhaps this is because they have suffered similar fates to her and she can understand their suffering. There's an unused line for Alice in the first game file: 'Curiosity can kill I suppose; but apathy is lethal.' She isn't unfeeling, when she's confronted with the insane children's suffering she can't help but feel sorry for them. In fact, she does help people out a lot in both fo the games. In the second game it's suggested by someone else that she might have an hero complex - ( ... )

Powers: Alice has about average strength for a girl her age and size, but she seems fairly apt at using the weapons she's given in the series - more on those in the possessions section. Without weapons it would be fairly easy to beat her tough, especially if they would be bigger or stronger than her ( ... )

At this point, however, Jun began to get cold feet. He knew a great deal about the previous history of The World, including the struggles with Morganna. A rogue entity known as Cubia, the anti-existence, had arisen as a means to counterbalance the great power of the infamous Twilight Bracelet. Jun was concerned that the imbalance of power presented by the Epitaph PCs would create an anti-existence. He did a bit of clandestine investigation and discovered evidence that an anti-existence even more powerful than the previous one was being created. He brought his concerns to Jyotaro, asking him to hold off on the R.A. Plan until they could find some way to keep the anti-existence under control or even nullify it, but Jyotaro laughed and claimed that there was no such thing. From his actions of late, Jun had begun to notice a certain mania to Jyotaro's actions. It seemed that Jyotaro was more obsessed with surpassing Harald than anything else, and that he would go through with the RA Plan with little regard to safety or risk. Rather afraid ( ... )

Slowly the Epitaph PCs began to gather, some being controlled by the strange black dots that came to be known as AIDA and needing to be rescued, others of their own volition. Strife would split them apart, but eventually they stood united... all except for the character known as Ovan, possessing the eight Phase, Corbenik the Rebirth. Seeing that the only way to dispose of the AIDA threat was through sacrificing himself by using his Epitaph ability of Rebirth, he was lost, and The World was shaken to its core. He disappeared, and the Epitaphs scattered - except for that of Haseo, who possessed the first Phase, Skeith the Terror of Death ( ... )

These security protocols had confronted several of the former Epitaph Users, namely Haseo, Kuhn, and Atoli, who were attempting to break in to interrupt the program. Haseo's character had been repaired by Zelkova and was full of cheats that broke the rules of the system. He was able to target the enemy attacks and Data Drains themselves rather than simply the enemies. With his abilities he froze the security protocols, and the group got past them, only to discover that they were too late and the RA Plan had already begun. Everyone attempted to talk Kazumi down or reason with him, but he thwarted their attempts with ease. Pi intervened as well, claiming that he only had the best interests of The World and the global network at heart with his plans ( ... )
