The BBC has announced that 2009 will be a Doctor Who gap year. So, Series 4 will air in 2008, there will be only three Doctor Who "specials" with David Tennant in 2009, and Series 5 won't air until 2010. Bummer...
This is true, and it is good news that they're planning on having Doctor Who around, in one form or another, for at least 3 more years :-) Still, they'd better not have some serious cliffhanger at the end of Series 4 that we're going to have to wait until 2010 to find out what happens... ;-)
Oh, poop. Still, something was in the offing, once word surfaced that David Tennant was angling for a lead role with the RSC - he couldn't be performing with them and filming.
Wonder how they'll space the specials out during the year? Easter seems like a good bet, as does Christmas.. within those, it'd be nice if it could be around midway; Halloween would be a fun time for a special, but that'd make for a six month gap from the first, then only two. Maybe Halloween can be brought forward to July. Nobody complains about Christmas being in December, after all, even if it seems likely that was primarily to capitalise on the existing deep winter celebrations. ^_^
How are you taking to DT? I've become quite used to him, I'll admit. I still wish CE had continued for a bit longer than just the one round, but DT's brought yet another facet of the Doctor to the fore - it'd be difficult to see Blink with CE, I feel, or even Human Nature.

*nods* I thought that the BBC would try to do something to work around David Tennant's schedule so he could go off and play Hamlet in 2008 (with Patrick Stewart also in the production, from what I've read, which sounds like a very interesting combination). Sounds like a very reasonable compromise, especially if it means DT will stay on for Series 5.

Good question! I rather like the idea of Christmas, then Easter, then 4 months later to space everything out fairly evenly. And if it means moving Halloween to earlier in the year, than so be it. He is a Time Lord, after all ;-)
