I spoke with my oral surgeon yesterday, finally. He was supposed to call me back weeks ago. I am having my dental implants put in on March 10th. I will be out of work most of that week. I am not looking forward to this surgery. Due to the baby, I will be awake during the process and they are only giving me a local. I am extremely squeamish

can you wear a sleeping mask and have in a headset, or even ear plugs

kinda to keep you from fussing about what they were doing to do, yea you'd know they were up to something, but if you couldn't feel it - and you couldn't hear or see stuff well maybe it'd be less nerve wracking?

cmuckle suggested asking to bring my mp3 player. When I meet with the doctor on Thursday, I will ask about that. Thanks for the suggestion.

i agree. my dentist allows headphones (has since there was only tapedeck walkmans - man i feel old typing that) and therefore cannot hear nothing. and I agree about the mask too - that way can't see. I normally just shut my eyes and keep them closed tight, never thought of bringing the mask before next time I have work done will be bringing it.

Oh boy, the idea of that surgery hits all my squeamish spots as well. I will definitely be sending good thoughts your way.

Congrats for making the grown up decision to get it out of the way even in suboptimal conditions--obviously you're not looking forward to it but K is lucky to have you for a mom and role model!

I'm hoping that having a nice smile to show my child will more than make up for the discomfort that is coming. Thanks for the compliment though. It definitely made me feel better. :)
