For a long time I paid $20something for Lancome mascara. When Maybelline is SO MUCH CHEAPER, it kind of sucks. In the spirit of research and knowledge sharing, I bought a few of Maybelline's mascaras and took them for a test drive

heh, pumpkin_pi_ blew right past this (he's such a boy sometimes), but i felt the need to comment. :)
i have never, ever liked the way i look in mascara. some types of makeup i can handle, but mascara always makes me look and feel like someone... well, someone else, somewhat "not-me," a clown, a poser, i dunno. it's weird, because on *so* many people it looks *good*, and right (while on many others it looks freaky and scary). but on me it just looks weird.
i think i'm so used to me-with-no-makeup that when i use anything that looks at all not-natural, it throws me. also, my eyes are supersensitive to anything being in them that mascara as a concept makes me worry that i'll be constantly rubbing my sore, reddened, weepy eyes... so what's the point? who wants to enhance -that-? :)
i'd almost be willing to take on this experiment myself, but i have no idea what it would be supposed to look like, or how it could enhance my looks that i wouldn't know if i found a good one or not. so i probably won't.
I use mascara so infrequently that whatever I buy inevitably expires well before I use it again.
However, I do have one that I love b/c it's so funky - I think it's Rimmel (which is inexpensive) and it has flashy little glimmery bits in it. It's so much fun for a glamourous look. I'm not at home right now, so I can't be more exact than that.
One thing I have taken to doing for more ordinary occasions, though, instead of using mascara, is using a lash-curler. Easy, fast, makes your lashes look bigger (if not longer or fuller) and costs only the price of the lash-curler (and occasional pad replacements).
*sigh* It's so nice to be on March break and be able to think about mindless girly things. :)
