I hate mowing the lawn. It must be the one thing I hate about gardening. Digging flower beds, weeding, ... bring it on, but cutting grass? So boring

And as for those limp dahlias and tomato plants - I have those too. This year I've hidden them all, at least from my own view, by putting them in our front garden and thus inflicting them on our neighbours... ;-)
They can't complain, though, because it's still miles better than what was there before, namely grass as high as my knees and weeds, hundreds and hundreds of weeds. As much as I like gardening, I hate working in the front garden because it seems so pointless. You can't enjoy it because you will never sit in it so it's just this useless strip of land that isn't used for anything. It's south-facing, though, so this year I thought I might use it for all my veg growing! We'll see how that goes...
Much as I like the colour, I'm not usually a follower of the paint-every-bit-of-wood-blue trend (who introduced that - was it 'Ground Force'?), but I love this shade of blue and it was just right for that little corner...
I love the photo of the bench as well. hobbitblue and I have a very similar taste in photography. I added you to my friends list so I can see more of your work (hope you don't mind) :-)
Thank you for commenting and I'm glad you like the picture of the bench! :)
And welcome to my LJ - I post photography when and if I have time, which means that sometimes there will be a few weeks where I get a lot of time to take pictures, followed by periods where I hardly post at all, photographs or not. I'm always glad to meet new LJ-ers, though and I've added you back. :)

Gravel has it's uses, though - at least you don't have to mow any lawn!!! ;-)

I'll have to take some pictures of my mom's garden when I'm home -- I live in a high-rise apartment building, so no garden at all.

And yes, if you get round to it, please do post some pictures. As a garden obsessive I'm always happy to see pictures of other people's gardens!!
