Dear NPT Writer!
Thank you so much, you are going to write a story for me, that's awesome!
It's certainly not necessary, but just in case you think it would be helpful to take a look at my own fiction, you can find my stuff here on
AO3.
My likes/dislikes/prompts are all meant to be suggestions and ideas - they are supposed to be helpful and make things easier for you, not harder, so I hope you will find the following comments useful rather than restrictive.
General likes: Complex characters, little bit of angst/drama followed by realistically happy/hopeful ending, get together/first times, friends-to-lovers, male/female friendship, actually friendship of all kinds, alternate canon AUs, pining and/or mild jealousy (that gets resolved), dialogue/banter, specificity of location (things that are typical for the city/country/town the story takes place in), people taking care of each other, sidekick/underappreciated characters being appreciated, passionate/rough/sloppy sex.
Don’t wants: Devastating ending, major character death, character bashing, A/B/O-verse, Dom/Sub-verse (where everyone's a natural dom or sub), genderswap, mpreg, infantilism (as a sexual kink/practice).
The Fandoms/Prompts:
Equally true for all of these:
1. Any additional characters you feel like throwing in there, please knock yourself out! The more, the merrier.
2. Also, if you choose not to go with the non-canonical pairings I suggest in my prompts, don't feel like you need to tiptoe around canonical pairings (like, if I suggest A/&B and you don't feel like writing them as a romantic pairing, it's totally fine if A and B's canonical love interests pop up somewhere in the story).
Shameless (Mickey, Lip)
Those two are my favorite characters on the show, so you pretty much cannot go wrong here. I should say that I don't expect you to write a story about both of them, although that would definitely be great - but I'm aware that not everyone is a fan of their dynamic, so it's totally cool if you want to just write about one of them.
Mickey: He just - he breaks my heart in pretty much every scene he's in. Or he makes me laugh hysterically. Often both at the same time. All I want is a moment/encounter/experience that tells him he's not alone, where someone is being nice to him/cares for him. I'm totally, 100% A-okay with Ian/Mickey, but it could also be something about Mickey and his siblings; or Mickey and Svetlana; or Mickey and Yev future fic; I'm also a big fan of Mickey as an honorary member of the Gallagher family. If you want to pair up Mickey with someone other than Ian post-season 5 (temporarily or permanently), that's absolutely fine with me too. I'm pretty flexible in regard to where Mickey gets his love, as long as he gets it.
Lip: Lip may not have the best track record when it comes to relationships (although, who on this show does?), but I love, love the way he is with his siblings. I think he channels all his emotional energy into being a good brother, and he's doing a pretty excellent job, too. I believe he is also very torn and guilty about going to college, because he keeps feeling like he's abandoning his family. If you want to write Lip, I would love to see something about him and any/all of his siblings, it doesn't even matter what - either him taking care of his siblings, or his family taking care of him.
Lip and Mickey: I honestly have to admit that I don't quite understand why most of fandom seems to be so convinced that these two hate each other. Okay, so they may not be best friends, but I also don't see them as being enemies, and it seems to me that they work just fine together when they have to. To me, they actually have more in common than you'd think: they are both adorably grumpy tiny creatures, and they are both fiercely loyal to the people they love (for Lip, that's his family; for Mickey, that's mostly Mandy and Ian). I really like the idea of them becoming reluctant friends/bros, I like the idea of them sharing the responsibility of taking care of Ian and/or Mandy, I like the idea of them commiserating about their crazy families. Again, I don't expect you to, but if you want to write something about these two, I'd definitely read the shit out of that story. If you want to experiment with Lip/Mickey (or even Lip/Mickey/Ian), that's absolutely fine with me too - probably wouldn't be sunsets and roses, but hey, all that anger they both keep bottling up could make for some pretty intense sexual energy.
Spartacus (Pietros, Oenomaus)
I recently re-watched the first two seasons, and man, those two just drew the short straw, didn't they? And they both deserve so much better. I don't expect you to write something about both of them, although if you want to do that, that's wonderful.
Pietros: Pretty much anything where he does not commit suicide in season 1. Could be because Barca doesn't die either - the two could leave together or join the rebellion -; could be that someone else watches out for him after Barca's death and protects him from Gnaeus (Spartacus? Oenomaus? Agron after he is bought by Batiatus? Naevia?) Pretty much any pairing and/or friendship would be fine with me (as long as it's consensual).
Oenomaus: Watching Gannicus and Melitta flirt still makes me feel kind of bitter for Oenomaus' sake. Melitta is so in love with her husband, it's hard for me to believe that she'd fall so quickly for Gannicus after a coerced sexual encounter in front of a bunch of Romans. Be that as it may, though, if you can think of a way to bring him a bit of comfort at some point after he loses Melitta and/or finds out about Gannicus' betrayal, that would be great. He's so important to the gladiators, but it always seems a bit like Gannicus was his only real friend - I'd like to see him interact with/be friends with/have sex with/whatever other characters, too.
Pietros and Oenomaus: To be honest, I really like the idea of Oenomaus and Pietros bonding in late season 1 over the loss of their significant others. Pietros clearly needs someone to watch out for him, and Oenomaus cared about Barca too, so that's something they have in common. As for Oenomaus, it always seemed odd to me that he cared so little about what happened to Pietros. Maybe he was still numb after the loss of his wife, but he did seem very invested in finding out what happened to Barca, so why not extend this concern to Barca's lover? Plus, he seemed to love Melitta for bringing a gentle and soft side to his life in the ludus, and Pietros would be someone who could do that too. They could be friends, they could become lovers, I don't care either way, but I would love to see them bond over their shared loss.
Hunger Games (Effie, Haymitch, Finnick, Johanna)
My four favorite characters in The Hunger Games - any combination of these you can come up with will be great, but I'll offer a few suggestions! You don't have to include all characters, most of my suggestions only include two characters, although if a third one makes a guest appearance, I certainly won't complain!
I loved Haymitch and Johanna from the moment they appeared, although they are not exactly the easiest people to love - but they do need someone to love them! I never thought that Effie would grow on me so much … until I realized that she was basically my favorite person in Mockingjay 1! She's just so much tougher than anyone gives her credit for. Finnick was a bit more of an acquired taste, mostly because he uses his looks and flirtation so well as a shield, but he's really one of the most interesting, tragic and morally integer characters in the verse.
Effie & Haymitch: I love their friendship, their banter and bickering. I don't imagine them so much as a couple but rather as good friends, although if you'd prefer to write them as a romantic pairing, that's totally fine. I would love to see something about how they comfort each other and rely on each other, and recognize/bring out the good in each other.
Haymitch/Finnick: With those two I can definitely see the spark. They are both broken and cynical, but also still believe that some things are worth fighting for, and they could totally do with someone to watch out for them. Those two would fall in love fighting it all the way down, but still end up finding some happiness despite themselves.
Effie &/ Johanna: On the one hand, these two are like ice and fire, but they also share this complete disconnect between their superior attitude and their actual emotions. I like the idea of them bonding at District 13, both of them broken and lonely, but still fighting: as friends or as lovers, either would be great.
Thank you, you are amazing!
