So I got into the FF14 open beta today. Anyone else in it? What servers are you on? I have AnimeFest this weekend, but I'm only going Saturday with my Chocobo, so I'll probably be poking around a bit this weekend ( Read more... )

I'm on it on Rabanastre server. Mainstream storyline is a bit hard to follow (feels like older FF games where you just talk to every NPC in the area you were sent to until you get a cutscene.) The game graphics is good so far.

I just downloaded the beta and started installing it.. like i need another mmorpg to play :-)

I'll try out the beta and let you know what I think.

Eh, it's not that great actually. I've been playing it for a few days now and it feels too much like a single player RPG that happens to have other people running around in it. The interface is horrible, unless you have a game pad. It feels severely like it's a console port even though it's being released on PC first.

blah.. nevermind then. I've played RPGs, but never for long. Basically we need to make a game with FF's graphics and blizzard's game philosophy..

Yeah, just got it loaded and yeah, interface is terrible, hard to move around, hard to fight. The ability system seems too complicated and wasn't much fun at all. And half of it seemed like it was just a bunch of cut scenes. It felt like they were trying to put some tutorial aspects there, but it was pretty much crap.

All it has going for it is it's pretty. Which is what I think we said was all the original version had going for it.

I'm not sure what server I'll be playing on.
I'm also not sure if I'll play beyond the free month when I buy it.

Yeah, at this point I'm probably not going to buy it. It's... pretty. That's about it. It's very difficult to play, it's geared very strongly towards consoles. I might get it on PS3 when it comes out.
