I think that's the first time I've seen an article where they've mentioned the fan reaction to the finale - slightly more than a "a raised eyebrow", but still...a whole week on a battle that latest only a few minutes is intense!

What Katie says about privilege is true but all this guff about how the series ended being right is still driving me mad. Let me tell you why it ended the way it did. Shine owned the rights to the name 'Merlin' and all the characters and ideas there in. Shine, not any of the J's. So when the J's. knew they were leaving (Atlantis is produced by their own company) and couldn't take their Merlin creations with them, they killed them so Shine could not profit from producing work on Merlin without them. They ended the series like that so any further telling/movies could not happen. End of chat. It was a crappy reason to do it. We all know everyone could have lived in the "new age" they had worked for. It would ave been possible to kill Morgana and Mordred, leaving everyone else alive and Arthur king and Magic allowed, end the show everyone happy. And never forget the extra scenes directed by Alice Troughton (probably the bit with Merlin and Arthur in the woods) and the night shoot at the "isle of the blessed " that didn't make the cut? I ( ... )

Thank you so much for keeping us in touch will the Merlin family for all these years. You will be much missed (I don't have a twitter account) but I have loved coming here so that I can go and see the actors in other plays (agents please note and let fans know in good time what they are doing so we can go and see them in plays and films! - and not miss television appearances).

I am very grateful to the mods for all their hard work and straight forward reporting! I wish you all well, thank you and goodbye!
