In the vernacular, demons are generally regarded as creatures capable of inflicting great harm, opposed to good. The meaning of words is sacred, though I don't believe their various connotations should prevent you from pursuing something which could make you happy.

I wouldn't generally recommend becoming involved with a demon, however.
