I hardly have the heart to do this in much detail - and maybe some fans won't be ready for such analysis - but this is an overview of how our beloved Merlin peeps built Avalon for the final episode. A few different locations were used, and different places within those locations, so it's certainly generated some confusion and discussion. This is ( Read more... )

Thank you. It was very confusing as to where they were filming. I never did see the grassy area at Speech House Lake, mainly because at the time I went, they hadn't used it for anything.

Thank you, hon. I'm glad this cleared up that little mystery for you! I'm only glad that I decided to take a ramble one day, with the notion of looking at reverse angle shots - otherwise I'd have never picked it myself!

This really is fascinating to see, thank you! It also brings home to me once more how truly exhausting and emotionally wringing this had to have been for B & C, doing this over and over again in different locations! I appreciate it all the more for it.

Thank you, hon! I'm really glad that this post only made you appreciate our beloved young men even more. They have certainly given their hearts and souls to the characters, and I'll always love for that. ♥

Wow, all that work! It's a complicated business, no wonder the odd continuity blunder crops up. I wonder how many times poor Colin had to cry for this one scene. But no one has ever looked prettier crying.
I'm amazed you could work all this out, very impressed.

It certainly is complicated. The entire cast and crew deserve much kudos - including the editor and DoP for blending it all together in the end. But yes. Poor Colin! He does look incredibly pretty at all times, and he cries so very well - so differently for each occasion! I can only hope he has a far more pragmatic view of it all being part of the job than I could possibly have myself. {hugs}

Thank you for your kind words about pulling this post together, too, but I am too humbled by observing what our show has achieved to feel I deserve any credit myself! {{{hugs}}}

This is fascinating. Just shows how complicated filming something like Merlin is. Wonderful detective work to sort it all out.

Thank you, hon. {hugs} It really can get incredibly complicated... I am in awe at times, wondering how they manage to get all the coverage necessary, and make it look and feel like it's all happening at the same time on the same day!
