Delusional
"Men willingly believe what they wish." - Julius Caesar.
Ron grinned as he walked up to Hermione’s front door, he had decided that it was finally time to settle down and he knew that Hermione was waiting for him.
She had been a bit put out when a little over a year earlier he had broken up with her, well technically he hadn’t broken up with her - telling her that he needed to be free for a bit so he could see what else was out there but not too worry because he was pretty sure that he wouldn’t find anyone who suited him better. She had told him to come find her when he had finished exploring and they could see how well she suited him then and followed it by walking out of his flat and seemingly out of his life. He hadn’t really heard anything about her from their mutual family and friends other than she had decided to travel while he explored and that if he really wanted to know how she was that he should owl her. He could help but remember their looks of pity towards him as they said this but seeing as how his girlfriend had abandoned him so that she could travel he didn’t expect anything less.
He had realized pretty quickly that Hermione was the one for him - if you could call the eleven months he spent dating both Pansy and Susan quick - but had to wait for her to get back so that he could tell her that he wanted to pick their relationship up where they had left off and would like to be married within the month. He was sure that she would be thrilled that he had decided to marry her and he knew that she would be relieved to let his mother plan the wedding for them so she could finish up everything that she needed to before she quit her job. He wanted to have a baby before their first anniversary and once she was pregnant she wouldn’t be working, he was working as a clerk for George and while the pay wasn’t great it would be enough to survive on if they lived with his parents. Just the thought of marrying Hermione and raising a family in the Burrow was enough to make his grin even larger. He was still grinning when he knocked on her door.
“Ron?” Why did she sound so surprised to see him? She knew that he would be coming. As soon as he had heard that she was coming back he had told Ginny and Harry to let her know that he was done exploring and was ready to settle down. They had both smirked and told him that they would pass along the message.
“Hi Hermione.” He smiled back as he watched her blush when he handed her the flowers that he had brought for her. “I came over so that we can talk and get everything settled.”
The sigh that she let out showed just how happy she was that he was there, although she sounded tired when she invited him in so they could talk, maybe she should quit her job now and just rest until the wedding and she got pregnant.
He looked around as she led him into the front room. He could tell that she had been getting things ready for him. There was a with a repair kit next to it on the floor and several different Quidditch magazines on the table. He even spied an equipment bag stuffed in the corner with a quaffle on the floor next to it. He hoped that she wouldn’t be too upset to move into the Burrow after all the work that she had put into her cottage, but they would be together and that is what mattered.
As he took the tea she offered him he noticed the large diamond ring on her finger, even better he wouldn’t have to explain to her that he couldn’t afford to buy her a ring because she already had one.
“Ron, we have to talk.” Her nervous sounding voice broke into his thoughts and he smiled at her nerves. Didn’t she know that there was nothing to worry about, that he had everything planned for her.
“What is there really to talk about?” He questioned and smiled reassuringly. “I have everything planned, you won’t have to worry about a thing.”
She looked surprised at that, “What do you have planned, Ronald?”
“Our future,” was his simple answer.
“And just what future would that be?” She questioned in an excited tone, “The one where I quit my job and we live with your parent while I chase your children around the Burrow? Ginny told me all about your plans.”
“Doesn’t it sound perfect?” Ron asked, happy that she seemed so excited about his plans. Her eyes were twinkling with happiness and the blush on her cheeks let him know just how perfect that she thought he and his plans were. The blush also let him know that he was going to have to be gentle with her because she had been saving herself for him. It was all working out so well.
“Don’t you think that you should have talked to me about your plans?” she questioned with a whisper.
“Why? I have it all planned out and now the only thing that you have to worry about is me.” He informed her loftily. It was at that point that he lost control of the situation.

“I still don’t know what happened,” Ron was whining to George that afternoon as his brother tended to the bump on his head. “I was telling her how perfect that everything was going to be and she seemed so happy about it and the next thing I know was there was a hex coming my way and I woke-up outside of the shop.”
“Ron, did you ask Hermione what she thought of your plans?” George asked.
“I didn’t need to, she seemed so excited about everything.” Ron answered with a huff.
“Funny thing,” George smirked, “Excitement and anger can look a lot alike to a delusional person.”
George then tossed him a section of the Daily Prophet and left the room.

“What is this?” Ron demanded, shaking the news paper in front of Hermione’s face. He had spent the afternoon after talking to George, trying to chase down the infuriating witch and had finally found her sitting in his mothers back garden clipping an article from the news paper.
“It looks like a newspaper Ronald,” was the biting reply he got back.
“It is the bloody Society section and it says that you are marrying Viktor Krum!” Ron shot back.
“It must be old then,” she murmured.
“So you aren’t planning on marrying Krum?” Ron demanded.
Hermione just smirked before answering, “No, I am not planning on marrying Viktor.”
Ron took a few deep breaths before speaking again, “Then I am prepared to forgive you for hexing me earlier today and go ahead with my plans to marry you.”
A deep voice answered from behind him before Hermione could speak. “It is not Hermione that you need to forgive for hexing you, it is me.”
Ron quickly turned to see Viktor Krum coming up the path from the field, a broom slung over his shoulder and Harry and Ginny following behind.
“What are you doing here?” Ron could feel face turning red with anger.
“He is with me,” Hermione cut in as she quickly stood up and handed him the clipping. “Read this.”
With that she disappeared into the house with the others following.
Ron looked down at the clipping in his hand, surprisingly it was from Lavenders gossip section and read the title: Hermione and Viktor Krum Tell Their Story.
Ron felt sick. Of course she wasn’t planning on marrying Viktor. They were already married. She wasn’t happy with him and his plans, she was angry with him about them.
George was right, he was delusional.
