[Admin] Adult Content Setting - New Rule
Yesterday I received a PM from yelloerainboe telling me that our community's adult content setting was changed to "Explicit Adult Content". It seems our community (as well as a few others) was reported to the LJ Abuse Prevention Team and upon their review, they decided to flag our community as explicit. We (the mods) wouldn't have known about the change in settings if not for yelloerainboe's message. LJ didn't send us any warning or notice about it. After sending a support request asking why our community's setting was changed, LJ re-reviewed our comm and decided to change the setting from explicit to "Adult Concepts". This means that you have to be at least 14 years old to join merlinxarthur. This also means that if you're logged out from LJ, you will see this notice when you go to the main page of the community. And on friends pages for those who are under the age of 14, entries from this comm will be hidden behind lj-cut tags for you and you will see a note saying "You are about to view content that may not be appropriate for minors". And so in order to prevent this (getting flagged for explicit content) from happening again, we have to ask all those who post NC-17 materials (directly to the comm or linked to another journal) to please set your entries in the community as Explicit Adult. You will be able to do this while posting or editing your entry [Note: Screencap for reference]. We are sorry for the inconvenience but this is what we feel is the best course of action for now. We're still going to try to talk to LJ about this issue and if we find a better solution then we will definitely inform everyone about it.
Lastly, we would like to thank yelloerainboe and her co-mods at merlin_femslash for all their help and support. We would also like to thank the other mods who I was in contact with (they're not from the Merlin fandom and I'm not sure if they'd like to be named) for their help as well.
