I am really gonna regret deciding to do this for todays post... *ahem* Tonight I plan to make cupcakes, so I shall leave this post window open, and will add bits to it as I go along the recipe! I am going to try and make... Chocolate cupcakes with a salted caramel buttercream frosting... heaven help me .___.



8.30 sieved the dry ingredients, then realised I needed another bowl to cream the butter and sugar, and all my bowls are currently occupied. Ate a rather large amount of potato salad to fix the problem (yes, I make potato salad a lot)



9 what sort of amount is 113 grams of butter? why 13? am I doing some crazy cake ritual?

9.06 owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I really need a bionic arm. Or a mixer. the arthritic arms of a gamer are not suited to the amount of stirring needed to cream butter and suger ;__; Thank goodness I actually remembered to take the butter out of the fridge beforehand for once.



9.21 "Add the eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth". Yeah, all very well for mr 'I used an electric mixer la-dee-dah'. You know what happens when you add eggs to butter and beat by hand? Not very much.

See this? looks nice doesn't it? Tasty and chocolaty? IT'S A LIE. It's pure cocoa powder and water, and tastes much like an ashtray. Not that this stopped me trying it every 10 minutes in case it had changed.



Don't be fooled! It still tastes of evil!



eeeeeeviiiiillll... That smells really nice now... *tastes* .________. And that's why I love baking! Take 2 bowls of gross ingredients, mash them about a bit, get deliciousness!



9.47 all mixed up, time to heat the oven and fill the paper cases! 8D I am a little suspicious of the recipe saying to fill the cases 2/3 of the way, 1/2 full is normally plenty... Who am I to argue with Mr Mixer?

10.02 first batch in the over, godspeed little cupcakes <3



10.18 I.... 'think' they're done? It's rather hard to tell just from looking at them. They certainly smell done. Omnomnom.

11.18 Y'know what's fun? running to take a shower while you have a batch of cupcakes in the oven. It's like you can hear a clock ticking in your head for every extra second you spend away from the oven. Made it back in plenty time though- who'da thunk you could have a shower in 10 mins? :O That's the last batch done now anyways!



11.54, a.k.a. now Obviously these are not finished, after all an un-iced cupcake is an ugly cupcake, and an ugly cupcake is in fact a muffin. However, as it is almost midnight I need to wrap up this post and submit it~

I've decided to cut a well into the cupcakes and fill it with frasting, rather than smothered on the top. Hopefully this will make it easier to take some in to work tomorrow :)
