So, I've settled on Melody fic for SciFi Big Bang, which is really exciting, as Doctor Who will be a new, interesting fandom to work in. We've got to submit snippets of our work, and this is what I've got so far, and I'm feeling really overwhelmed as the project will be large!

bb!Melody is in the first two episodes of Season Six, and the episode Let's Kill Hitler. I think that's all you'd need? I know what you mean about not really loving any of the characters. That's why I just watched Season 3, for Martha Jones, and she allowed me to access the rest of the show tbh. Thank you so much for reading, bb.

Me, too! My head canon is that whenever she reads about a historical female figure that she admires, respects, and identifies with, she assumes that it's a version of herself back in time, in a different regeneration. It allows her to exert so much control over her life, history, and surroundings, which has been denied her by the circumstances of her upbringing.

Oh, it's so perfect, so absolutely perfect. It began with a wailing 'No, why, Melody, you little thing, WHY!' and ended on a bubbling 'Mel, you're so deliciously bad.' The tone for both Melody is spot-on, I mean really spot-on... You could hear their voices. And the "I am only 12" when we know she's not... Oh perfect.
"Diagnosis: Rickets, says a voice inside the Spaceman. Initiate re-mineralising procedure."
Ugh, that hurt. Truly, everything in that part was heartbreaking, it felt so material...
"There is a word called "lonely." There is a word called "afraid." [...], and why she knows them, and how." So well-written. So strong. Melody learning the power of words the hard way...
I cannot pick a favourite line because the whole piece is... gorgeous.
Really beautiful. Thank you for writing such a gem.

everything about melody (in all her incantations) pulls at my heartstrings, and because canon is so vague about much of her backstory, it's proven really rewarding to be able to fill in some of those blanks. as i continue to work on this, i hope to explore a bit how she seems to change so much from one version of herself to the next, whilst still being the same, beautiful, richly layered person. <3
you flatter! deborah flatters! but i cannot say i do not appreciate the kindness so very much.

Oh, completely. Her character is deliciously multi-layered and tragic, in each incarnation! And she is a godsend for fic-writers... Even if her voice is hard to get, I think. It seems to me you really did her justice.
Let's all flatter! The work is worth it ;)
