The Deaf Picnic thing was fun. I talked (signed) with a lot of different people. I talked with this older lady for a good while because she is the cutest little old woman ever. A deaf guy gave me his address...after I nicely turned it down once. I guess he didn't get the hint. I guess it doesn't matter if you're signing or talking...guys just ( Read more... )

I wouldn't say that I'm fluent, but I understand ASL well enough to have a full conversation with a deaf person. Think about it...if I don't know a certain sign...then they can "finger spell" it out for me. So, I'll understand what they're saying no matter what. My speed just isn't up to a fluent level yet.

ESL (English Sign Language) is just like English in every way. ASL (American Sign Language) is completely different. I always tell people that it's the difference between English and American slang, but it's more than that. You have to be more animated with ASL. It's, like, broken english with acting things out...if that makes any sense.

Ex: ESL-"I am going to the store." ASL-"Me go store." You still understand what they're saying because they point to themselves, sign "going", and sign "store." It's pretty easy. You should pick it up.

Adam wants you, and he's not old. ^_^!!

Just kiddin' (well, not really), but, yeah, boys. Maybe you could invite like Amanda and Nathan and some other people to the movie too. Then you could hide behind them instead of having to deal with what's-his-face all the time.

Also, I wanna learn some E/ASL (I don't care which). I've always wanted to, 'cause I love hands and all the visual learning that's involved.
