Are guns bad?

I personally don't think guns are bad.  I think its the people who use them incorrectly.  Guns don't kill, people do.  It requires someone behind the instrument to aim and pull the trigger.  Same principle can be applied to a vehicle.  Needless to say, I'm doin this debate for poly sci 101 about whether this country needs tougher gun control laws ( Read more... )

I agree with you on the people are bad, not the guns. However, I think you're completely off about Cheney. First of all, it was an accident, it happens. He wasn't being irresponsible with his gun, the birds are low flying, and apparently the guy didn't warn everyone else where he was gonna be ( ... )

LOL...I wasn't really on one side or the other honestly. I just found the accident amusing. I do know it was an accident, but also Cheney should be held a little more responsible. I myself have been a hunter for 5 years, and we've always been taught to NEVER fire unless you are completely aware of your surroundings and what you are shooting at, including taking into account where other hunters are around you. Especially since they were hunting in a group. If they were hunting for deer, Cheney's poor friend would be dead. Can you imagine if they were trying to kick out deer (hunters walk in a single line, side by side, usually on top of the lil mts ranges and make noises to kick any deer out to shoot). A rifle would have done a lot more damage. A 28 gauge is kinda weak on the list of shotguns, so he was lucky. But yes, the other guy was also an idiot for being in the line of fire ( ... )
