When my kids were little, there were scented crayons. Most of them stunk, but the colour black was scented like leather. I did a lot of black drawings.

"I defy you not to be excited about glitter crayons once you try them."

I'm glad the glitter crayons have improved. They used to slide on the glitter, and no colour was put down.

I must have missed the scented crayon era. I remember in college, my friend's mom sent her "gemtones" which are probably the metallics now.

The glitter must have improved! Sometimes you get a big glob o' glitter, but the color is consistent.

Oh I LOVED coloring when I was a kid--with crayons, with oil pastels, with felt-tip pens, with pencils.**

And now I like gel pens, for their glittery quality.

You make me want to get some glitter crayons, for sure.

**I had all kinds of coloring books--I mean, all kinds. Egyptian wall painting coloring books. Famous-women-in-history coloring books (this was where I learned who Murasaki Shikibu was, and Empress Theodora), ones that were just tessellations and random designs, not to mention the more traditional, newsprint ones based on TV shows or toys.

... I was disappointed when my own kids weren't so interested in coloring.

You need the M.C. Escher coloring book. I got it years ago, and it is fantastically diverting.
