I love my immersion blender. Love love love love. I cannot believe I ever ladled hot soup into the regular blender in batches and then back onto the stove to do other things with. Zip zoom immersion blender whee.

And yah, I can imagine how people do without slow cookers, and it is by not being me, basically. Because going to bed with a puddle of barley and spices and water and waking up with a week's worth of breakfast in the slow cooker is really vital to my needs. VITAL. Not to mention the chicken and the chili and the ribs and all the other things we cook that way. The barley is NOT OPTIONAL.

I was going to ask what an immersion blender is, then I got it. A stick blender! Oh, yes, I use mine a lot. I also love my crock pot. We were just pondering how we seem to need a larger one. I think when you get beyond the basic round crock pot size, they start to be called slow cookers. We need that.

How do you spice your barley? I'm intrigued and want to try barley breakfast for myself.

I put in whatever amount looks good of: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and orange peel.

Some weeks that means none of, for example, orange peel.

It always means waaaaay more cinnamon than cloves. Etc. But it is not an exact science.

Ah, ok, typical breakfast cereal spices. Sounds good. I don't think I would have come up with the orange peel, but that sounds lovely.

I'm too lazy to do this properly, and either don't know or can't remember the html for the formatting ( ... )
